Brushes
Daily Brushing keeps your dog’s coat and skin clean and helps prevent the skin from getting infected. Wire brushes are for long fur and soft bristle brushes are for short fur.
Price
3-15 dollars
Toys
You can either make them yourself from online sites or buy them. Puppies go through a teething phase like babies and you should buy a chewy rubber toy for them.
Prices vary
Shampoo

5-10 dollars or more
Food
Small dogs don’t eat a lot of food and a $20-22 bag of dog food may last a while. A tip for puppies: To get a puppy used to eating dry dog food, try soaking it in some milk. Reduce the amount of milk after maybe 1-3 days each day.

You can get the lowest prices on things for your dog at Petsmart. It's kinda like a Walmart but for animals. :D

If your gonna get a puppy the first months will be expensive because of the shots. But you can also look for place that give discounts. When I took my puppy it was about $7 for each shot. You also have to buy bedding , collars, shampoos, food, toys, and other things. After thatfor each month youll probably just spend how much the dog food costs normally about $25. Then youll probably end up buying extra things like treats and toys. Take care of your new dog or be prepared for any unexpected vet bills. & PLEASE take your puppy to the vet for a parvo shot. Thats is the most deadly disease a puppy can have :l . Hope I helped and good luck!!

it's unlikely you'll be able to find one for rent.
equally unlikely you'll be able to take out a loan for the purchase, either.
so, a question about monthly payments doesn't make much sense in the dog section.
you might be thinking about cars. or boats.

with a small dog, a 40 lb bag of food costing $22 will last about 8 months or so.

as with babies, the first year is always the most expensive. depending on what vet you go too and where you get the dog.
for the first year i had my Papillon it was about $2,000 then after that about $200/ month. (food, toy's, grooming, treats, etc.) plus the yearly vet visit so depending on what month that lands on, $250-$300

I don't know of anyone who rents out dogs on a monthly basis.
