Why would this scenario be creepy?

I used to have a calculus professor, but he was actually a physicist. It turns out he also had a BA degree in nutrition. I asked him why also nutrition (because they are so different). He said a basic nutrition course met one of his required general education courses. He met a girl to study with for the semester. It also turns out that she was a nutrition major. He really liked her, but he didn't have the nerve to tell her. So he kept taking nutrition courses so he could study with her. So he had to double major! The last year of undergrad, he finally worked up the nerve to tell her. This girl is now his wife. They are in their 60's now.

Most of my female friends say,"eww, creepy!" When I tell them this story.

A few have said it's cute, but just a little cute.

This is the type of scenario you would see in a popular romantic movie. So, then why is it creepy to so many women?

He liked her enought to keep taking courses to be with her. I think that's a sweet story. Obviously it paid off if he married her and they're still together :)

Hm! I don't know, to me it sounds like a very sweet story :)

Obviously SHE didn't find him creepy or weird, since she married him and has stayed with him for decades.

    Glad they are happy together.

Wow...the same people who felt your story was creepy likely also thought the Disney movie "Up" was creepy, right?

It's creepy because guys like that can easily become rapists. No sense of boundaries, you know?

I think it's cute, in what could be construed as an unhealthy sort of way- but, each to their own :)
