I saw a Mercedes-Benz ad and they said that Mercedes invented the automobile, Is that true?

They said it was 145 years ago. I have never heard that before and wondered if it was true. It was on the Golf Channel where I saw the ad.

It was actually Karl Benz (founder of Mercedes Benz) who built the car in 1885, 126 years ago. There had been carriages powered by steam or electricity before but his was the first internal combustion engine powered car. The Duryea brothers got one running in the US in 1893. Henry Ford completed his experimental car in 1901, only a year before Olds began mass producing cars.

mercedes benz created the first car EVER, after few years Ford came with a petrol car with 4 wheels instead of the 3 from the benz, if you really investigate you will find out that the car Ford made (the Model T) was rubbish and i still wonder, why people call it a great car while it was really bad and then cadillac and austin (british) came with good cars that are alot better than the model T

Check your history books. Henry Ford came up with it first in the U.S. Whether or not other countries invented the internal combustion engine earlier than Ford did, I do not know. But the person who suggested Googling it had a good idea. Maybe there will be some information somewhere on the web. Google or Bing it.

No, I'm pretty sure Ford did, but you should go Google it to make sure. =)
