Will same-sex "marriage" adversely affect Christian businesses, adoption agencies, or schoolchildren?

I think it will affect all the things you mentioned, Bruce. Catholic agencies in Massachusetts stopped being involved in adoptions when the state told them they were obligated by law to stop "discriminating" against homosexual couples who wanted to adopt a child. The Catholic agencies had been the largest arranger of adoptions, but now they do none because the state told them they had to deliver children into the homes of openly homosexually active people.

Even if one were to approve of homosexuality, it is clear that society in general does not. I think it shows an obvious and vicious selfishness with a severe lack of compassion when a homosexual couple tries to adopt a child. That child will suffer the shame and humiliation of being part of such a bizarre arrangement, but that is not of concern to homosexual couples who want to pretend they are just like heterosexual couples.

I fully expect many businesses to suffer the cost of law suits that arise from homosexual couples being denied services. A Catholic or other Christian caterer who refuses to help celebrate the abomination of two lesbians forming a so-called marriage might well get sued for "unjust" discrimination.

The fact is that the "rights" demanded by homosexual couples almost all are demands that other people change to accommodate homosexual "marriages." If the "rights" were not essentially demands on other people, no one would demand those "rights." For example, employers will need to extend "family" coverage of health insurance to same-sex "spouses." I wonder what will happen to the finances of homosexual "spouses" who join their credit histories to that of their same-sex "spouses." Will banks have to extend credit to a man based on his "husband's" income?

I think the worst aspect of making the absurdity of homosexual marriages a legally recognized entity is that it makes a mockery of our laws, common sense, and by extension of civilization itself. To allow two men or two women to legally call their relationship a "marriage" is to mock the word "marriage" and make it meaningless. It is not good for society to mock essential legal and social terms.

If you could get divorced and marry me, Bruce, why can't you and I also marry some other guy and have a polygamous homosexual "marriage?" In truth, aside from the fact that you and I are HETEROsexual, such a "marriage" is every bit as sensible and reasonable as any homosexual "marriage." Indeed, if two men or two women can get married, why not same-sex siblings or parents and children?

To allow the absurdity of homosexual "marriage" to occur is to mock and ultimately to degrade substantially the basic family unit that is the core of civilization. That family unit consists of a man, a woman and any children they have. It is such a unit that has made healthy societies successful and stable. With the absurdity of homosexual "marriage" made common, society will be sure to degrade even more thoroughly than it has with the horror of abortion being called a woman's "right."

When nonsense is called justice, absurdities are called normal, and horrible wrongs are called "rights", human society will tend toward making no sense at all. Given enough time under such willingness to embrace absurdity as if it was sensible, society will dissolve. Society without laws is not really civilized society at all. Our laws are our explicit agreements with each other. When we allow essential laws to be utterly absurd, we are allowing essential laws to cease to have true value. When that happens, the laws - our formal agreements to be a society, will cease to hold us coherently together.

Yes, there will be many adverse repercussions to society in general and to Christians in particular. It seems as if the minority is determined to take away the rights of individuals to freedom of speech and of religion. They demand their "rights" but trample on anyone who disagrees with them.

You know that expression, "Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind?" Well, just wait till we see the consequences on society of the erosion of moral values and the importance of the family unit - and by family unit I mean a father and a mother who are married to each other and who take care of their offspring. We are living in an age where people "call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness... for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty" (Isaiah 5:20-24).

I believe it will make a difference for certain aspects of the groups you mentions. However, why are you limiting your question to Christians. There are Orthodox Jews, Muslims, etc., plus some atheists and others who do not accept same sex marriages that maybe adversely affected also.

Yes. This has already caused problems in Christian businesses, colleges, hospitals schools basically any Christian institution must struggle with this. The main problem is that now they will be legally bound to support people whose lifestyle is contrary to their beliefs. They will have no choice but to shut down or put aside thier beliefs to stay in business.

Political correctness is destroying America. Many people apparently think it's worse to discriminate against gays than it is to risk the lives of innocents. Blood banks sometimes reject people who are gay- but there is an important reason for that. Lots of people have died from AIDS as a result of blood transfusions. Our priorities are majorly, majorly fouled up, and no one seems to care. No one seems to notice that our society is an imminent train wreck, and no one cares. You and I care, but lots of people put on blinders to reality.

It will affect all of society. It goes against God's law and will carry a curse with it. Most have heard of God's urban renewal plan. Sodom and Gomorrah.

You better believe it. Gays were even allowed to start a fire on the Mormon Churches steps and no arrests were ever made. Eventually there will be a backlash.

Only the ones which persist in trying to impose their bigotry upon others. The rest the of christians will be affected in no way whatsoever unless they themselves also happen to be gay, in which case they will finally be able to marry the person they love.

There will still be many heterosexual married couples around, don't worry about your businesses.

Apparently it will boost the economy greatly, and a damn preacher will steal money wherever he can.
