My girlfriend wants to be drawn nude, what should I do?
OK, so for $800 my girlfriend is going to get drawn by an artist completely nude, for an art studio...I am not someone to tell a girl what she can and can't do so fine I mean she is a liberal girl I known her forvever and know what I was getting into when we recently started being a couple. The weird things are that she had trouble with the artist as far as being up front on how much $$$ she would get, and the guy (theirs a guy and a girl artist involved in this) keeps texting her all day asking for updated pictures, kind of creepy if you ask me. I have proposed the idea of going with her and while she seems reluctantly agreeable she kind poo poos the idea away and thinks she doesn't need me there. I am her boyfriend, don;t you think it'd be my repsonsibility to be there to make sure everything is done in a classy manner and most importantly for her safety since the whole thing seems kind of shady.

I agree this sounds extremely shady.
I used to model for classes. It varied a little but I was normally paid about £12 per hour and a typical session was about 2 hours. Sometimes more but that gives you an idea of the rates. $800 is an awful lot of money for one or two people to pay one inexperienced model for one session. I wish I'd been paid that much, but it's too good to be true and suggests there's something fishy.
Constantly texting her asking her for "updated pictures" is also very suspicious.
Now there's nothing wrong with modeling nude for fine art, it can be hard work but also a lot fun. However I ALWAYS modeled for classes, apart from a few friends who I knew extremely well. I NEVER did anything privately, and I certainly NEVER did anything for people I didn't know. Also my mum came along the first few times - not because it was unsafe, it was always a totally professional environment, the tutor was a friend of the family, and the first class was mainly 40-50 year old women - but more for moral support because it was at short notice and I had no experience. I had a complete mix of people in later classes but I NEVER felt uncomfortable.
This just sounds dodgy and makes my alarm bells ring.
I don't think she should do this at all, but if she insists and you can't talk her out of it, I definitely don't think she should go alone, no matter how much money they're offering. Call me suspicious, but at best this sounds like a situation where they will want to take a load of photographs "to draw from later" and then refuse to pay. At worst - well, there are lot of bad people in this world.
There are plenty of totally legitimate colleges and evening classes who need models. They don't pay as much, but it's safe, professional, and often full of interesting people.

not that im an expert on nude modeling for art but this just sounds super shady...i would say either you come with her to make sure its not a scam, or she breaks it off & you look for reputable studios in your local area that she could pose nude for & be paid. dont settle for the shady & props for being a boyfriend who cares enough to protect her.
