Why does every ball I hit fly foul into left field?.... (slow pitch softball)?

My husband and I just joined a co-ed slow pitch softball league. Until now, I have only played fast pitch, and am just getting used to these heavy bats. At my first practice, every ball I hit flew into left field, but was clearly foul. Some even landed over the side fence. The bat I'm using is 34/28- could this be a problem with the length or weight of the bat? (I'm only 5'2") I don't want to drop money on another bat unless I know for sure that it's the problem. Thanks.

Update:

Sorry... righty

Update 2:

You know, you might be right. Those balls are coming at me so slooooooooowly... that I had difficulty timing them just right. I'm probably catching them on the end of the bat causing I'm swinging too soon.

You used to play fast pitch, so your usedto having to swing fast, but in slow pitch you have to wait longer, just a fraction of a second and it should straighten out the ball. I play travel baseball and i have such fast bat speed that every time i hit it i barely ever hit to center/rightfield.

Since you're a righty, that means you're swinging too early. A fraction of a second can make a huge difference where the ball gets hit.

What hand do you bat with?

If your left handed swing sooner.

If your right handed swing later.

If this dosent work its more than likely the bat weight.
