Cant access my second hard drive?

I have a new computer with 2 hard drives one with my windows 7 on and the other i use for backing up. drive "D" but for some reason i get a box saying D;\ is not accessible. Access is denied and a white cross in a red box . Have I lost all my folders and how do I get in I tried properties it opens but doesnt let me scan it just the same box comes up

    Are you logged in as a administrator?

    Go to start-control panel-users and make yours administrator.

    log in as admin.... then it will come up
