Has anyone else noticed as I have that the Republicans running for president?
Seem to be using the "religion" card a lot more this year than in the past? It seems like a contest between the candidates to see who is more religious than the other.
What do you believe are the reasons behind this? Do you think it is right or wrong to be using religion in a political arena?
LOL Donald. I don't think the Mormons will take it either. Still have Bachmann and the others though.
Boober, I would like to know how the rich are going to get screwed by simply asking them to pay into our economy what other tax payers do.
Gop: I ask myself that question too.. Thanks for bringing up good ole Pat. Can't believe I forgot to mention him with the list of other religious fanatics who have made fools of themselves.

No more now then before. They always run on religion. Did you think they can stand a chance running on the issues? They represent the richest 1%. How can they ever win an election if they only look out of 1% of the population? Answer, religion, and wedge issues. (wedge issues are for another question)

I believe there are many true Christians, who try to live a Christian life, regardless of political affiliation.
However, not all of them are capable of running this country. So playing the "religious" card should not be a relevant factor in your voting choice. With that said, unfortunately some people will vote this way because they believe that this makes that candidate a good person.
Unfortunately there are people who claim to be Christians that do not live a Christian life.

No. Religion has always been a big issue especially among the Republicans since their base is more religious than the Democrats base. But the Democrats aren't immune either. No doubt it will become an issue again for Obama once a Republican is nominated.

In the primaries candidates have to try to get the votes of groups within their party.
For Republicans they need to gather the support of religious conservatives and Tea Party - cut spending conservatives.
Democrats play to their own little groups, Gays, anti-war liberals, latinos.
It's the same with both parties and no different this time around.

They want to get that 40% that are Christians... I think they should leave religion out, and aim for 100% of the votes

It is similar to playing the "screw the rich" card, but based on a 2000 year old book, instead of a modern day misrepresentation of Robin Hood.

Not American, but I think with America being in such pooh pooh, that the candidates are using the, 'we are powerless so lets call for a supernatural god to save us' from our predicaments!
In God we Trust.
