clothes dryer question?

I assume a regular electric clothes dryer intakes air from its surroundings, drys the clothes with it, and blows it out the exhaust, is this correct?

here's the situation, I'm staying at my brothers house, and I noticed every towel I grabbed, has a slight foul odor on them, like a hint of catbox. well I inspected the laundry room and by the time I was half threw the door, I was overwhelmed by catbox odor, and realized they keep the catbox, right next to the dryer, and they don't scoop it, they just change it once a month (if that). now.. to me, this is just a matter of common sense, I wouldn't keep the catbox there, id keep it near a toilet to flush the stinkies... I mentioned it to him and his girlfriend... both of them disagreed with me, said they couldn't smell anything on the towels, and blamed it on not using dryer sheets, and called me crazy. Well now I am frustrated, because I have laundry to do, and I don't want to smell even the slightest bit bad... guess I will have to move that stinking catbox myself.

so am I right? Is the dryer using catbox fumes to dry their clothing?

If I wasn't right here in this situation, I'd laugh about it.

Update:

ray: if there is no way for air to enter the dryer, yet there is an exhaust fan pulling air out of it, there would be a vacuum in the dryer.... is this the case?

Update 2:

to ray again: I just came from the garage, the exhaust from the dryer goes threw the wall in the laundry room and into the garage, theres about 2 feet of ducting and that's it, it doesn't go to the ceiling or to a vent. it wasnt taped on so I removed it, looked inside and seen a little lint, but not very much... it's not clogged...

Yes, you are correct...The cat box odor is being absorbed into the dryer while drying the clothes, thus, absorbing into the clean clothes as they dry....The reason why your brother & his girlfriend cannot identify this smell on their clothes as well as other clothes is quite simply they are used to the smell. I'm sure you have visited someone else's home in the past, & immediately were struck with some sort of unfamiliar odor of some sort while the inhabitants of that home do not smell a thing....It's their environment & they're used to it...This is just the case...You'll either have to move the box, making sure the cat/cats accept this, or, just take better care of its after math...
