My daughter wants to leave her husband?

Her husband is careless with money. They are losing their house. he spends and spends still. They both make good money that go into a joint account. But there's nothing there. He won't give her a straight answer where the moneys going. She swears he has another family he's paying for somewhere. he never stays home on his days off & leaves her alone with two small kids. I used to babysit for free so they could save money & catch up on the bills, but then he buys a new harley. So I told them to take the kids to day care! My elderly mother even had to help pay my daughters dentist bills what her insurance don't cover. Do you think she has good reason to want to leave???

I can't believe Donna Reed is asking this question, specially since Father Knows Best.

    It is a good reason

I know a couple this happened to and it was not because he was paying for another family, it was because he was spending all the money on drugs and she did not even know. He ended up getting of the drugs and they are still together and have 4 great children

Maybe you and your daughter should try find were the money is going first

i know heaps of people and usually when this happens it is because the person has some kind of addiction, he could have a drug or gambling addiction.

I really doubt he is spending the money on another family.

She needs to cut off the money going joint and move out. But before she does this she needs to get copies of every document on the finances - if it is a joint account than the bank should give her copies. Same for credit cards. She should also see a lawyer and make sure she has everything she needs to divorce him.

She needs to leave - he is destroying their future....she will get brought down if she does not get out.

Definitely. She also needs to change it so that her money goes into an account that he does not access. She also should make a payment plan for the both of them (this money from your check pays the cable, this money from mine pays electricity) and document it, so that there is clear evidence that he is not paying his portion. A little more separation between his stuff and hers might help bring some clarity to the matter.

  • Because she is your daughter and why you cont sit with both of them and discuss every thing and help her husband in case he is in problem and ask him to take care of your daughter and also kids, but if will not show his interest in your talk than i think it is best idea to let your daughter leave him because until what she will suffer she has her own life to live:)

Sounds like she is married to a child. Oh yeah, I did that once and I divorced him. Best thing was he grew up and now we are friends. But he still has no money. She needs to dump the kid and move on.

From what you have said, your daughter will do better without him. There is no financial stability, he is irresponsible with money and not there when he should. Why stay? Does the kids want to she miserable? Probably not.

No, I think she has good reason to find out why she is a/ enabling bad behaviour and b/ know what goes on in her own life.

And, you LET her take Grandma's money?? The two of you need to give your heads a shake.

your daughter thinks her husband has another family- ummmm- even if he doesn't- if he makes her feel that way- it's a matter of time before before he finds one.
