Can I use the DMV's drivers handbook as my drivers ed?
So I stumbled upon the Driver's Handbook on the DMV website that seems to have everything there s to know about the roads and considering it's the DMV website, it must be legit. Can i use this and a few practice tests as my drivers ed?
I know I'll probably be encouraged not to, but why not? If it has all the rules and stuff, shouldn't this suffice as my "driver's ed?"

I wanted to do the same thing, but turns out a drivers ed course is required in order to get your permit. To be honest, though, the handbook is all you need to study for the test. I used driveredtogo.com to do my driver ed because it was super cheap and fast. I finished it in two days, got my certificate of completion, went to the DMV and took the test, and passed with no mistakes! The drivers ed was like seventeen dollars and I saved an extra three bucks by using this code: X32-C6M-8M7. It works and I'm going to be taking my behind-the-wheel test this month. Good luck!

it usually gives enough to pass a learner permit. However, you haven't given your age, or the state you live in, so there is no way of us telling you for sure whether you actually have to have a certificate for a drivers' ed course.
