My Dell Studio 1735 won't turn on?

At first my lap top kept telling me that I needed a new battery, and so after awhile when it would only turn on after a few tries I thought it was just the battery, so after it wouldn't turn on at all I ordered a new one, well I have the new battery and my lap top still will not turn on. The battery will charge b/c the charge light on my lap top turns on when it is plugged into the wall. Please help, I go back to college next weekend and I kind of need my lap top, should I take it to geek squad or something...I read that for some Dell people their power button actually was broken.

Laptop computers don't just decide not to turn on for no reason. If you're hitting the "Power" button on your laptop computer and nothing is happening, some kind of hardware problem is causing your motherboard not to have the power it needs to turn itself on.

    Difficulty: Easy

    Instructions

    1

Push your laptop computer's battery firmly into the unit's battery input. If your laptop is connected via its AC adapter, the battery must be plugged in all the way to provide the necessary power to turn the machine on. If the battery isn't firmly inside the compartment all the way, a connection won't be made and hitting "Power" will do nothing. Push your battery inward towards the center of the laptop to see if it moves. If it does, it wasn't in all the way and you should now press "Power" again.

    2

Plug your laptop's AC adapter into the AC adapter input on its case. If your battery is completely plugged in but your laptop still won't turn on, the battery's power could be dissipated. Plugging your laptop's AC adapter into the case will give the laptop the power it needs to turn on and will also begin to charge its battery.

    3

Remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter and hold down the "Power" button on your laptop computer for 30 seconds. If your laptop is holding an excess charge or the motherboard has a short, this could cause your laptop to not turn on even if it is plugged in and the battery is charged. Holding down the "Power" button will release this excess charge. Put your battery back in and then try to turn on your laptop computer again.

Check that the power outlet that is being used for your laptop's AC adapter actually works. Try to plug your AC adapter into different outlets in your home and see if your laptop will power on. If it will, then the original outlet you were using for your laptop computer's AC adapter wasn't operational.
