How do I make sure I don't get sunburnt again?

I've recently just recovered from a horrible sunburn, and I hated it. I'm going to play tennis this afternoon and I'm going to make sure I wear a hat and sunscreen. The thing is, I'm super paranoid, so even if I see a bit of sun, I think I'm going to get burnt...even though I have light brown skin. I'm using SPF 50. How can I be sure that the sunscreen will protect me and not get burnt? I just really need reassurance at this point because I do NOT want to get sunburnt again. Thanks!

it should be fine. If you sweat a lot though, reapply it every couple hours to be safe

    Hi there,

You're really right!! It's sooo important to protect your skin from the sun. Sun damage not only ages skin quickly, causes uneven skin tone and texture and ruins collagen production but it can also cause skin cancer. One case of serious sunburn before the age of 18 and it doubles your chance of skin cancer in later life. ( it has to be a VERY serious case though )

It's good that your worried, this will mean that you wil protect your skin well.

Using factor 50 is good, it's a very high sun protection factor, that's great!! You sound as though you will be fine but make sure, as you sweat you re-apply the suncream as it will wash it off . And every 2 hours you re-apply all the suncream because the sun breaks down the cream and makes it less effective.

You could try wearing a sunblock instead of a cream as sunblocks are more effective at defending you against the sun.

The hat is a very good idea and try to makesure you have a t-shirt that covers your shoulders as they are very suseptable to burning.

You sound as though you'll be fine though. Worrying a little but is good because it keeps you concious of how protected your skin is but don't worry too much as you still want to have fun! You'll be fine, just keep your skin protected!!

Good luck and have fun playing tennis! x

make sure you reapply every couple hours, especially if you sweat a lot. you could also use a waterproof/sweatproof kind to be safe. and use a generous amount...that should help.
