Did ron paul actually have a stronger showing than Michele Bachmann at Iowa;s straw poll?
Michele Bachmann technically won , but she paid attendees thirty dollar admission fee if they would sign a pledge saying they would vote for her, ron paul did not, and yet she did not beat him by much
.Bachmann won 4,823 votes to Paul's 4,671
I think they are both nuts, i am just thinking ron is in better shape than people think.

I think Ron Paul did have a better showing. Michelle Bachmann is a cheerleader. She doesn't offer any real ways to solve problems. Neither does Pawlenty. They just shout derogatories against Obama.
Ron Paul, however, says exactly what needs to be done to solve things. AND he didn't buy people's tickets. Thats just lame.

I didn't realize that she paid admission fees! That's kind of crazy... That would not shake me though. regardless of what she did, She still won.
I'm on team Paul though :-)
The fact that numbers of those that agree with his message are growing at an exponential rate compared to the last presidential elections makes me think that there might even be hope for you yet though! If he fails now, someone with his values will run again next time, and likely WILL make it in. Let's just hope the US hasn't been drug through the mud by then and there is something that they can do about it. We need Ron Paul now. Get on board or get out of the way!

Romney didn't show up so obviously he lost this straw poll but he is leading the national polls with Perry already coming in as a close second. The really funny thing is Perry beat Romney in the Iowa straw poll even though Perry wasn't even on the ballot but Romney was. Perry had 718 WRITE IN votes to Romney's 567 votes.
While I personally prefer Cain over any of them, I really think the final showdown for the Republican Primary is going to be between Romney and Perry.
So to answer your question while Paul did probably have a better base support for this straw poll I really don't think it is going to matter much in the end game.

I would call that the equivalent of buying votes. Fortunately, since this is not a real election, apparently it does not count as such.
