My Dell Inspiron's screen flickers.?
Wondering if I have a major or minor issue with my laptop. It is a dell inspiron 1750 and the screen flickers (flickers, distorts, freezes, and turns black, all random effects) when it is around the 90 degree angle. I have to wiggle the lid a bit to get it back to normal. It happens less when the lid is opened fully. Seems like it might be a connection within the left hinge but I don't see anything out of the ordinary. This has been going on for a couple months now and is getting progressively worse. And yes the warranty is expired. Any help & insight is appreciated, thanks.

This problem happened when I installed my external monitor a few years back. Its a pain to find the answer but what I did is right click on the desktop and, if your on vista, go to personalize, display settings, Advanced, Monitor, then change the screen refresh rate to 59 hertz. I dont have windows XP in front of me right now but I bet its a similar process. So basically saying, if its not your refresh rate then its your connection, which has also happened to me on a IBM Thinkpad which worked its way out but they made computers like a boss back then so... Hope this helps :)
