How do i solve this cubic function without calculator?

x^3-2x^2-5x+6=-1

Can you solve this without the calculator? If so, can someone please help?

    None of the 3 x values that make the equation true are integers.

    Therefore i would have to suggest this is rather too difficult!

    The solutions given by Maple involve

    > -332+12*I*2283^(1/2)

    and are complex.

    Are you sure there isn't a typo here. I can't imagine this being assigned

    as a problem to work out "by hand".
