2 1/2 year old won't sleep!!!?

She goes down around 8:30, wakes up around 1:30 and comes into our room. We let her sleep with us. But then she wakes up around 3:30-4:00 and is raring to go. I mean energy like it's morning time and let's get the day started. She has no interest whatsoever (no matter how hard I try) to sleep. Is this a phase? A growth spurt maybe? Is it something I have to wait out....I need sleep!! It amazes me the amount of things I could accomplish if I had the energy of a 2 year old. :-))

What I used to have to do with my 1 year old that never wanted to sleep for a long amount of time ( at bed time or nap time) was play A LOT with her. I would do every activity I could think of to wear her out. I also kept her up later at night so that she would potentially sleep later the next day. You don't have to start out with an extreme time change for her bedtime. Start slowly if you have to. Keep her up until 9 for a few days and then slowly push back to 9:30, etc.

The biggest mistake here would be letting her sleep with you. She is probably waking up because she is uncomfortable in the bed with you. When she gets up at 1:30 put her back in her bed, tell her it is nighttime and that she needs to stay in her own bed. Then put her back in bed. Keep doing this until she stays. You might have a long week until she stays in her bed but then it should be better for all. Good luck.

My 2 year previous takes a 2 hour nap daily and sleeps from 9 pm to 7 am. i comprehend she is getting adequate sleep. a three year previous would desire to be on a matching time table. in my view 11 pm is plenty too previous due for a three year previous to stay unsleeping.

  • she goes down at 830 and gets back up around 130? seems like you know ur shift. lol.

well wrestle with her, teach her games that require strength (causing her to exert more force and perhaps waste more energy).. if you play with her and most importantly keep her up on her feet running around until at least midnight. do this every night till she establishes a routine, or give her nytequll. have you though about hiring a babysitter to explicitly play with her to use up her energy?
