Facebook Friending or Foul Play?

I got upset earlier when I saw that my B/F had 'friended' a girl who I know was interested in him and we laid down rules about that. He swears he doesn't know how it happened and that someone is out to sabotage our relationship.

Is there any way they would show up as friends when no one sent a request or accepted one?

Or am I just being lied to?

Unless this is all a cleverly masterminded ruse by the girl in question (which would require knowledge of your boyfriend's Facebook password, or the technical skills to obtain it), then it seems that the friend request was intentional.

There's no way for a friend request to be sent without a deliberate invitation (unless, say, said girl was in your boyfriend's contact list or vice-versa and let FB (accidentally) send friend requests to all those on the list). Such an event doesn't seem likely, however.
