Is it worth getting color on your tattoos if your skin is brown?

my cousin told me that colors in tattoos won't show when you have a dark skin. I was just wondering if it was true or not. I am not Kevin Garnett dark (look him up lol) I'm kinda like Kumar from harold and kumar! will the colors show?

BQ: how much would it cost to get a tattoo sleeve for my arm?

You can get color, but you must have an artist that is familiar with the best inks for darker skin, and you need to work with your tattoo artist on using color to it's best advantage in your tattoo designs.

    Here's some examples:

As to price for a sleeve, it can be anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 +

All depends on what you decide to do.

It maybe best to find a theme, and then a main piece to place on the upper arm, and references for about 10 more images for the tattoo artist to work with to design your sleeve.... unless you are going with an all over design. At any rate, it won't happen all at once, but over many sessions with a month or two of healing in between.

You need to have a consultation with an experienced, licensed and skilled tattoo artist who know his/her inks.

    luck~

Talk to your artist. See their profolio of what they have done on black people. I am fairly light skin and my tattoo was done with darker colors so that it would show on my skin. My artist took the time to go over the colors that she wanted to use to make sure that they would stay and even showed me with a quick drawing of the colors she wanted to use with the picture I wanted for me to approve of before it went on. It's not a waste of time and money if you get someone that has experince with dark skin and is willing to talk to you first before it's done with the do's and don'ts.

yes the colors still will show it just wont be as noticeable as it would be on someone with pale or white skin

They'll show up but not as vividly as they would on someone with lighter skin. They'll just look kinda dull.
