Telling Someone Your Old Dog Died Over Facebook?
I figured I would ask this in the pet section. I used to have a dog for two years. Later, I gave this dog to one of my best friends. Ten years later, which happened yesterday, I get a ****.. message on facebook. Saying this, "Sterling had a stroke, he passed away at 2pm. I was crying when I read this message. Because, this dog was once mine. And he was a sweet dog. My friend got a text, while he was at work from his roommate saying his dog was dead. Then I got a crummy message from the friend. I griped my friend out over the phone. For the way he told me on facebook. I asked him am I not worthy enough to even call. He said he wasn't thinking. He then complained of how it was received it on the text from his roommate. I said, than why did you think it was ok to tell me on facebook.
My question is this. If someone told you, your old dog died, or your dog died. Would you want to be told over the phone, or on a facebook message or text.

Your friend if it is truly your friend would tell you in person not on facebook for everyone to see.
This is not
acceptable in a friendship and if you are friends and good friends you talk on the phone or in person.

That's sad, people these days don't have respect, I wouldnlikenover the phone or face to face, may your dog Sterling rest in peace :) he is in a better place in the safe arms now, Over text or Internet is just annoying for something like this, at least a phone call or visiting. But I also agree you are not the rightful owner of this dog, but you have the feelings and the affection, but it was truly yours but I guess your friend is the owner of it

No offense, it is no longer your dog. I'm sorry that it makes you sad that your former dog died, but you gave up that right to call yourself an owner TEN years ago. This person is obviously grieving more than you ever could considering the TEN year bond they had with each other. Stop being melodramatic because clearly you have no idea what she's going through as you're only going through a FRACTION of what she's going through. Also, he doesn't owe you any type of condolences via phone call or a card or anything. HIS dog died. It ceased to be your dog the instant you gave up ownership.

Sorry for your loss and i would want to be told over phone, but you need to remember they may have put the message on soon after it happened and to be honest, who is thinking straight after a loss theme selves.
If they gave him a good life then just be thank full for that and remember they have had a bigger loss as they have had him for 10 years.
