After research, the Environmental Protection Agency has approved fipronil, the insecticide contained in Frontline, for use in pregnant cats. This pesticide has been approved for use in treating and preventing fleas, ticks and chewing lice. Frontline accumulates in the skin and hair follicles of treated cats. It is then released over one month.
On the Other: Some Pregnant Cats May be Allergic
Frontline can cause an allergic reaction in some cats, including those who are pregnant. If a pregnant cat licks the spot where the pesticide was applied, she may drool before it dries completely. She may also develop temporary itching and redness at the application site.
