If babies are "miracles", why is there a multi-billion $ industry dedicated to preventing them?

Seems like that's throwing around the miracle label a little too widely.

The English language is a funny old thing. I have always taken this to mean that the parents are delighted by their new baby ("look what we did!") not a miracle in the walking on water sense. Although scientifically understood and biologically unsurprising, creating a new person is still quite exciting to the people involved as far as I understand it (not that I have kids, but my friends are mostly in the baby creation stage of life at present so I get to see this response quite a lot at the moment).

I don't see how it's related to birth control though - that's more to do with the want/do not want baby decision making process, whereas the "look what we did" response is generally only after the decision to have one is made.

    1. You threw it.

    2. They aren't any more amazing than a non-talking baby donkey or snake.

Babies are not miracles. We know exactly how babies come about. Much of the time they are a product of irresponsible people. No? 43% of children born in the USA this year will be from unmarried women on welfare.

The earth is at an overpopulation precipice. The industry caters to those who choose to be responsible about breeding.

The sun and the moon, and even Mars

The Milky Way and ******* shooting stars

    UFOs, a river flows

Plant a little seed and nature grows

    Niagara falls and the pyramids

Everything you believed in as kids

    ******* rainbows after it rains

There's enough miracles here to blow your brains

Another world for miracle could be marvel or wonder but just because it is a marvel it doesn't mean it is always wanted. A supernova is a marvel but I still don't want it to happen to our sun. Sorry for the randomness of the analogy but I think it gets across my point.

I'm not sure of the question you are asking or the point you are making.

Babies are precious and vulnerable, but they are not miracles.

If they were then this would devalue the concept fo miracles somewhat seeing as they 1 baby is born every few seconds or so.

We could actually teach kids sex ed so they aren't dry humping in parked cars and not realising penetration+sperm of the vagina=babies.

Because babies are the Biological result of sexual intercourse.

All animals are Biological in nature including Humans.

Source(s): The Laws of Thermodynamics prevent Religion from performing Miracles.

    Greed.

It is absolutely free to prevent babies. But, people are willing to pay big bucks to do it the hard way.
