Meat eaters can you admit to this?
Ok so I know being vegan or vegetarian is not for everyone. I live w/ a household full of omnivores. However can the meat eaters at least admit that most of you eat entirely too much meat? That you could stand to obtain some of your protein from other sources? That you don't need to eat meat every day? I mean come on you only need about 5.5 oz of protein per day. Keep in mind the average steak is double that. Most of you are eating bacon for breakfast and burger or a turkey sub for lunch.
Edward: Even if meat eaters insisted on eating meat every day w/ the exception of say meatless Monday they'd do a lot better if they only consumed the 5.5 oz they needed instead of over indulging.

I expected better of Daisys answer, or maybe i am mixing them up with EXSFT one of them provides a fair enough view in most cases. To explain Deerhunter, he is a hunter. Apparently he eats little meat due to hunting seasons & storage for meat. He is american which we all know consume ridiculous portions of most food let alone meat & have a huge rate of obesity, my country Ireland is not as bad but showing similar trends.
I'd be surprised if many meat-eaters denied that they consume too much meat upon hearing what is necessary requirements for protein daily & the effects it can have in large quantity

You are trying to get me to confess something that isn't true.
I eat meat two to three times a day, everyday. There is nothing wrong with it. It's called a normal diet. The idea "that we really don't need meat" is a bold face lie. You've got to be nuts if you think that I am going to believe something like that.
If you really believe that eating meat is wrong, you are deceived. If you don't, but are pushing this agenda anyways, then you are a liar.
I eat meat. Always have and always will. Going vegan would not solve any problems. Instead, it would create more problems.
You say that eating meat causes starvation in third world countries. I say, Wrong! Corrupt governments taking advantage of their citizens causes starvation. Corrupt governments steal stuff from their citizens by means of terror.
Vegans are into propaganda. If you are smart, you won't fall for it. If you fall for it, it shows how stupid you really are.

We are a meat eating family but we don't eat very much at all. Mostly because it is expensive, so when I cook our meals, I usually make a casserole/tacos/etc. with just one serving (one chicken breast or one small steak) and then we add lots of beans or veggies or pasta or rice. We rarely have any lunch meat cause it is expensive so we pretty much eat pb/j every day. We never eat sausage or bacon because we aren't big breakfast eaters and I like to eat super healthy and low cal so I eat lots of yogurt or oats for breakfast and my husband and son just like cereal. So you judging that all meat eaters eat too much, is way off. I'm just wondering... what is the point of your question?

...What?
Why does it matter if they don't NEED it?
They like meat. It tastes good. If eating it doesn't go against any of their moral values, of course they would eat it. Why wouldn't they eat it every day? It's very filling and it makes a great meal.

Why should we "admit" that some of us may eat to much meat...it really is none of your business and fyi I am a very physically active person ( walk, jog, lift weights) so I do need extra protein and animal derived protein is the best for building and maintaining lean muscle mass. I do know of some great alternatives to red meat if you don't like it..fish, seafood, eggs, chicken, whey protein, turkey, yogurt.
But there is nothing wrong with steak now and then, especially grass-fed beef elk, deer or bison!!

I can't admit that, because it isn't true. I actually need more meat in my diet. :P
I don't get the point of this. The "overindulging" thing is a blanket statement and a bit insulting. People can eat whatever, in moderation. Of course eating way too much meat isn't healthy, just as eating too much of anything else isn't healthy.

I eat meat 3-5 times a week. If you think I eat too much, go right ahead. What you think does not matter to me.
an 5.5 oz of meat does not translate to 5.5oz of protein. Get your facts straight.

Speaking only for myself, yes I can admit that I probably eat too much meat. I don't eat it every day though, and certainly not for every meal.
What exactly is the point of this question? If you are searching for imperfections in people, they are not hard to find. I have never claimed dietary perfection. I also drink beer, and I don't get enough exercise or sleep.
How about you? Is your diet perfect? Do you get enough exercise? Do you have any vices?
I hope you have found the answer you were looking for.

No, I will not admit that I eat too much meat. I don't. You generalize here "bacon for breakfast, turkey for lunch...." How about the kid who eats soy cereal, soy milk, soy sausage for breakfast, a soy burger and soy shake for lunch, a soy drink after track practice, tofu stir fry for dinner and tops it off with some soy ice cream before bedtime? Is he eating too much soy. Will you admit that you're eating too much soy? I think we all know that too much soy is dangerous. There's absolutely no research showing any NORMAL, healthy person eats too much protein.
Dishonesty runs deep in the veg*n community. 5.5 oz. Boy that doesn't sound like much. How about 50 grams. That's how protein is described, not oz. Most veggies contain very little of it. And even fewer veggies contain the complete protein that your body needs to grow and function.
