When I close Internet Explorer, I get an hourglass symbol and have to wait?

a number of seconds before I can go on to do something else. This does not happen with my Firefox browser. Is there some sort of routine maintenance or cleanup I should be doing on IE to keep this from happening. Please: don't tell me to just stop using IE.

Update:

None of you respondents have any intellectual curiosity? You're not interested in finding out why things happen? Also, apparently you CANT read since I clearly indicated I have Firefox and use Firefox. Surely, somebody out there knows what is going on with IE and how to address it.

DON'T USE IE. If enough people say it maybe you'll get it eventually.
