I'm assembling a wedding shower gift... Tell me your thoughts..?

A friend & male co-worker of mine is getting married NEXT summer. I thought it would be a good/useful & humorous gift to assemble a large laundry basket of cleaning supplies/tools for the newlyweds. *They both still live at home & have never lived anywhere but, home. It's on the humorous side as I do cleaning/maintance for where we work. I have a little LESS than a yr to assemble the gift.

Update:

So far I have- Scotchbrite sponges(2), Mr. Clean Magic Erasers(2), Greased Lightening multi-purpose cleaner, REDMAX odor eliminater spray, Some nylon scrubbie sponges, rubber gloves, & a long handled duster and some clorox wipes. I'm gathering coupons to fill up the basket as much as possible for about $50.. I'm planning on hitting the dollar store for microfiber wipes, rags & other cleaners. So far I've spent about $10 tops.. I buy in bulk & split what I get for the gift I also work for Lowes & got discontinued cleaners for about .20 cents a bottle !

Update 2:

*Cleaning wipes are in sealed containers- & if stored properly many if not most cleaning supplies are good to go as is.. As for people thinking it's "low class" it's more of a humorous nod to my co-worker as I do the cleaning/building maintance where we work so it's appropriate that I would get him something of this sort. *I find bridal showers extrememly BORING- so I gotta livin up the "OH another sheet set w/ something different" Those that may not "get it" I'm not concerned about in the least !

Omg, yes, in all seriousness, do it.

When my fiance and I moved into our place together, my parents packed us up a big box of stuff like Windex, toilet cleaner, dish soap, laundry detergent, a big thing of sponges, and all sorts of other random cleaning stuff.

We thanked him, and then as we were busy unpacking stuff it was like "Oh, mirrors dirty, do we have Windex? Oh, yeah! Parents gave us some!"

Then we needed to wash dishes because of box dust that had settled on them, didn't even need to leave the apartment, already had it in the box from dad.

Some people might think it seems a bit low class or something, but speaking from experience, I was happier with the big box of cleaning supplies that my parents bought than some of the other housewarming gifts we got. It's all stuff you never really think about till you actually NEED it, and then when you need it and don't have it, it sucks.
