Alternatives to relaxing without a cigarette?

Ever since I quit smoking three months ago, many things irritate me when they didn't before and all I end up doing is annoying the people around me with my attitude. I'm so close to start smoking again but I feel that will just disappoint my friends who have supported me through this. I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions to relax besides a cigarette or any natural relaxation remedies?

Stopping smoking is a pretty simple thing to do... in principle. Maybe because of it sounding so easy it catches people off guard and ultimately makes it much more difficult to quit.

There are a lot of products out there that can help you to stop smoking. Which is best for you depends on many factors and ultimately the only person that knows which is best for you is you.

The best thing to do when you are looking to stop smoking is to find out what options you have, and then decide which sounds best for you.

Here's a website that lists the different things that are out there to help you stop smoking.

There are a couple of alternatives. As one person suggested, meditation can be very relaxing. You may want to see if you can find a guided meditation. Or you can try a meditation where you imagine where the irritation is in your body, imagine the irritation disappearing, and the visualize how you are interacting with people. The visualization may or may not work.

Another very good option is Spring Forest Qigong. It is a very relaxing moving meditation. A lot of people have used it in conjunction with their traditional healthcare.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not affiliated with the qigong site in any way.

Try using deep slow belly breathing. With practice you can breath that way most of the time. Changing the way you breath changes how you feel. Deep slow belly breathing is relaxing. Concentrating on one thing like your breathing is also relaxing.

When I want to become more relaxed I often visualize myself in a relaxing place like the beach. You could look up some meditation techniques. When you meditate you guide yourself into a deep state of relaxation. I use the relaxation techniques to meditate but I also use them whenever I want to be more relaxed.
