Is it true that North Carolina is one of those states where, every time the governor declares a state of...?

emergency, all concealed-carry licenses are cancelled?

Update:

Cancelled - bad word choice. More like suspended.

Well, not cancelled per say. But whenever she declares a state of emergency, we aren't allowed to CCW off our own property anymore. It is a largely ignored piece of legislature that Grass Roots NC is trying to change, they have been successful in other laws being changed, this one is a tough nut to crack.

Source(s): Correct, suspended would be the more appropriate word for this blatant infringement of 2nd amendment rights.

To anyone who supports that law, you have to think of it this way. If you do need to leave your property, you should still have the right to protect yourself. There are several people who get panicky during things like this. Some of them will carry whether the law allows it or not. Same for criminals. Now we have a law that, once again, disarms people who are mentally sound and willing to obey the law, and leaving the only ones with guns will be the unbalanced and criminal types. That is why this gun law and gun laws like it need to go away. Never mind the constitution (I know, a crazy statement), these laws don't even make common sense. These laws put good people in danger, and protect the criminals and crazies.

No mention of open carry, and might be useful as a deterrent during an SoE, but that is still a huge load of liberal BS.

Haven't heard anything about that. It's news to me. If true, perhaps we can get that changed if we kick Perdue out of office next year. She's worthless.

Source(s): Concealed carry in NC since year one.

yes, per say, once a state of emergency is declared, your not allowed to carry outside of your own property since they don't trust people to hold restraint against looters and such in such a emergency situation, like the impending Hurricane Irene. with the law, they're just trying to remove the problem of sorting through all the shootings to find the murders and self defense cases, since it's hard to do that after such a emergency, they just can't leave the dead people without justice or reason for their death.

but that does not mean your not allowed to take your guns with you when evacuating or your not allowed to defend your home in such a case, your just not allowed to carry it on your person outside your property. it's not such a bad idea when you think about it, there's no reason to be carrying in such a situation, stay home or leave entirely, especially don't wait til the last second to leave, once I would have seen the predicted path, I would have been out of there, they had it mapped a week to a week and a half ago, why wait?

Sadly I believe that is true, even having to get a ccw is unconstitutional.

    Whoa...never heard of this.

Wouldn't that be a time when you are more likely to "need" to carry?

Great reason not to move there.
