hmmm i don't really follow politics enough to answer this, but i saw the word libertarian and i figured i would get 2 points just to go on a ranting spree.
But the only problem is... us libertarians are very anti government. or at least anti big government. so any one who claims to be libertarian that goes into office seems kinda a hypocrite. then again maybe they would be more humble about being in office and NOT give them selves a big pay raise with the people's taxes.
oh well if we do have libertarians in office i hope they are text book libertarians. meaning that they believe in pro-choice.... ON EVERYTHING! the true spirit of libertarianism is not to care what some one else does to themselves or their property, just as long as they don't encroach upon anyone else.
The only two laws we need:
1. Do all that you agree to do.
2. Do not encroach upon other people or property. (encroach means rape, murder, steal, assault etc. so don't even start with saying 'what about rape? (dumbasses))

Well the Koch brothers, who preach libertarian values, already have a grasp on our government and various other state governments.
They aren't real libertarians though. So maybe 2012 will be the year of the phony libertarians. The Tea Party already is starting to get ahold of politics, and they are phony libertarians. So I think the ignorance is already here.
There are many types of libertarians so your question really had me scratching my head when you said the "year of hte libertarians."

there will be no third party candidate elected to any significant political office. any Libertarian who really and truly wants to win an election should run as a Rebublican or Democrat. If he runs as a Republican he should get a friend to run as a Green to takes votes from the Democrat. If he runs as a Democrat he should get a friend to run as a Libertarian (or Constitution party ) which will take votes from the Republican. In the few instances this method has been used it has been successful. The most prominent one was the 1992 presidential election in the United States. Ross Perot took enough votes from George H.W. Bush to enable Bill Clinton to beat Bush.

Wait..........I'm confused...............I am looking at your avatar, yet here you are, asking about Libertarians. Sooooooo, I am assuming you do NOT have this super power then, as the answer is NO.
Source(s): I possess this Super power. Obama will win 2012. That's just common sense.
