Why do people like the Tea Party and some Republicans want to defeat President Obama?

This a serious, and slightly unbiased question. I am neither Republican nor Democrat, so I guess I'm independent. I am also a keen college student, so it would be nice if you all have reasonable, sound answers! I just don't understand why so many people want to tear down the president instead of helping him and uplifting him. If we are "America the People" I don't see why "Defeating President Obama" it would one of the main goals of the Tea Party people(as listed one of their websites). Did Bush ever have this problem with the Tea Party? Or any other president for that matter? Or did the Tea Party come about as soon as the first African American (Dont forget Jim Crow's "one drop rule") president come into office? Something to really think about.....

Update:

To RJC: First of all, I am grateful for your opinion. However, I never said that "anyone" wants to defeat "Obama", I said that it is one of the Tea Party's goals to defeat Obama (http://www.campaigntodefeatobama.com/). Another thing, I did not try to imply in no way, shape, or form that Tea Partyers are supporters of "Jim Crow". I simply put that there as to avoid comments of President Obama being half "black" and half "white" when I said he was the first African Amerian president. Under America's laws since 1895 Plessy vs. Ferguson, there has been Jim Crow. One famous doctrine of the time is "one drop of black blood makes you black". So in America's eyes, if you have "blackness" in your lineage, then you are black. Another thing, I used keen to describe me for a reason. I think that I am intellectually alert and I have a quick penetrating mind. I like to notice detail and intellgence is highly attractive to me.

Thank you very much and have a good day.

First of all the Tea Party formed after Bush left office. Second of all every party wants to beat the other. Politics has turned into a game and has fallen away from helping American citizens for the better.

Obama doubled the debt in 3 years that Bush did in 8 years. Also Jim Crow laws were made by the Democrats to block African Americans right to vote.Just for your info,MLK Jr was a registered Republican.

You are operating under the false pretense that anyone wants to defeat 0bama.

You would be wiser to think of the same that they want whats best for America, only then can you make unbiased decisions.

And for your follow up of Jim Crow,,,,,stop watching the MSM and realize the tea party backed Allen West and Tim Scott.

I'm not sure you should have used the word "keen."

Some of us actually work to pay bills and feed our families...The Democrats who are currently in power (Including Obama), are making that very difficult

Based on what you have written, you do not know anything about Obama other than his skin color, so you can't imagine that anyone would have any problem with him beyond his skin color.

Read about his policies, and their effects...Imagine if you had to work to pay bills and feed your family (without welfare and foodstamps), then you would understand why we want to stop the damage he and his administration are causing.

and btw, the Tea Party was forming at the end of Bush's second term because of the very same Democrats who are still in power now...Democrats had a congressional majority during Bush's last 2 years (you didn't know that, did you?)...TARP pushed the Tea Party over the edge, and gave it substance, a voice, a heartbeat and a name.

First off, the Tea Party has many issues against the Republican party also. The simple answer is The Tea party is against the continued wasteful spending and excessive size of the Fed Government. The right well that just speaks for it's self...of course they want one of their own in the White House.

Obama wants to tax the hard working to give more to folks that don't want to work. That's crap ! Obama wants to kill coal which is a big job supplier where I live. Obama puts so much regulation in place that he is killing jobs and stopping companies from hiring. Obama and the Dem's forced obama care on americans that didn't want it. My cost go up as people that are welfare get a free ride. I dont work 10 to 12 hours a day to give welfare people much better health care than I have. I only have major medical coverage , I pay the first $2500 before insurance picks up a dime. Obama is the worst in my book. But if your getting a free ride I can see where you think he the greatest. I wont ever vote for him.

It comes down to fiscal responsibility. The previous administration was bad but the current administration has taken fiscal irresponsibility to new heights, borrowing four times as much as the previous one did on an annual basis. The previous administration increased the debt by about $4trillion over eight years, the current one did it in three and wants to spend even more.

Even the President has stated that the fiscal irresponsibility of the previous administration was a "lack of leadership" yet his administration borrows more by a factor of four.

Every dollar "borrowed" by the Treasury or "printed" by the Fed is a dollar that the people will have to pay at some point.

The current administrations current policies and proposed policies are and will be detrimental to the economy and the people. Many are the same policies from his predecessor just to a more extreme.

    1. The Tea Party started while Bush was president

    2. Obama is doing a terrible job and should not have his 4 year contract renewed.

The Tea Party came around when the deficit spending topped $1Trillion dollars. People are now concerned with how our gov't is handling our future.

because his view of the purpose of government is opposite from ours and almost every one of his proposals is seen as a mistake, We have no reason to support a president who looks down on us
