Desire, even if it for a good cause, is a source of evil- What is your view?

Everyone does everything based on 'desire' or want.

One cannot do a single thing not out of want. Even in duty, you must want to do it.

No one is forcing you to move and act. No one is forcing you to not starve yourself.

You eat because you want to eat, you are influenced by pain, but pain does not force you to act.

Even if it is painful, there is something you want that you are suffering through for.

One does good because they desire heaven. Or they love God because they desire Gods love or to please him. Everything is centered around the self because you are a self. Even God does everything through wish and want. Nothing else binds Him. If desire is evil, then good is nothingness.

Not all desires are source of evils. Desire to help other, desire to see other happy etc. cannot be the root of evil.

Desire is NOT an evil by itself.

Desire for the wrong things + 'Desire in excess' even for good things, is an evil.

Desire for good things is a VIRTUE !

There's a beautiful saying in Tamil : "ulhlhuvathu uyarvu !"

"Lets aspire for Noble Things !"

You have to get rid of the tendency to define yourself.

All definitions apply to your body.

The obsession with the body must go.

Be aware of your natural state.

You desired to come into this world & you began life of cruelty

by giving your mother endless trouble.

You desire for heaven or God.

Of what use is in arguing for or against God, when you do not know who is God.

Desire has shaped the God.

I think the question arises from certain associations with the word desire. If you were to use the word 'striving' in relation to acquiring some righteous quality, for example, it would still actually be desire.

Although I have seen some detailed explanations and observations from erudite

persons,I would prefer to put it simply thus.Desire for things not considered moral, ethical or proper,is certainly a source of Evil.

True ...Annaji desire is to remove corruption from country but it has given birth to many evils also like Some swamis ,politician tried to save their skin by showing their solidarity with him.

Desire is far from evil...you are a scarecrow

yes its some what true but not entirely , a good selfish less desires is ok and there is no big harm to others , but desires which is born out of " ego" " jealous " are bad . so good desires are welcomed and appreciated .
