In what way are we made in God's image?

Because as far as I can tell God and humans are nothing alike. Is it the fact that we all have emotions like hate and anger? I also know if I ever said I was like god (Hey, I was made in his image) a lot of people would be a little upset.

Update:

People can't even agree on that. Concesses is he isn't physical, a god having emotions such as jealousy and hate doesn't seem god like to me. We to can live forever doesn't cut it.

We are made in his image to think further than the physical being or situation, to have a greater purpose or understanding...that's how we are like him. I can never understand how a God would create something that is going to annoy him and he had full control how we came out...but when I came a mother i understood how he could love a creation and let that creation be it's self no matter how much control I had over my kids, i allow them to like what they like, even when it's not what I like.

Being made in God's image doesn't mean physically since God is spirit and we are flesh and blood. Rather it means he gave us an immortal soul and "imprinted" in us godly traits. For example, humans desire justice, love, and faithfulness because God is just, loving, and faithful. We appreciate beauty because God created beauty in nature and appreciates it. Since we're all sinful we can never attain perfection, and we have sinful qualities like hate. (Being angry isn't necessarily sinful.) However, through Jesus, we can grow and develop these godly virtues and be made more like Him.

...fireball is stupid!....let me ask you a question, have you ever seen your spirit? neither have i, but i have seen my body/flesh..so to say that we are made in his image as far as a spirit goes that is only a assumption (it cannot be proven that we have a one) on the other hand it can be proven by every "SANE" person that we have flesh...

..so to answer your question...god must be made of flesh because that's what we are made of!...can you prove me wrong FIREBALL!..i didn't think so...all you can do is live in a world of lucid dreams, make believe and fairy tales.

Yes they are...all gods are made in humans' image.

Ever see one with 16 body parts, and 12 eyes on the ends of 12 stalks? Why not?

Because gods are made in the image of people...they are all imaginary.

Source(s): just plain ole common sense.

God has a head, arms, legs, mouth, fingers, all the same parts as a man. Man is basically a copy of him, like a father and a son or a daughter.

YAHUSHUA gets His greatest pleasure in helping others. He created us in such a way that we get our greatest happiness, not when we seek happiness, but when we work to make others happy.
