Can you get your female dog vaccinated with the rabbies shot right before she has the puppies?

No decent vet would do it, but no decent breeder would allow a dog that isn't fully vaccinated to get pregnant.

I was going to respond to your second question but I guess you deleted it. The answer is no you never vaccinate a dog while pregnant or nursing unless there is some urgent reason to do so. (Which i cant think of any at the moment.) All B****getting ready to breed should be fully vaccinated prior to their season begins. There are many reasons for this but the most basic is when a dog gets vaccinated you have no idea if the dog will have an adverse reaction. Now if they are pregnant you are not only vaccinating the B*** but all of the pups are absorbing it as well. If the pups are nursing than they are absorbing it through the milk. The pups are way too young to get any type of vaccine which is why certain vaccines are set up at certain ages. I cannot say 100% that this is why this neonatal died but i would say yes it is a possibility. Neonatals can die for many reasons and at this point there is nothing you can do. Really you cannot even do anything to the vet either because you didnt ask the vet.

Anytime you have a medical question you go directly to the Dr. Not someone who is not qualified to answer and this goes for human medical too.

My opinion: No vet is going to vaccinate a pregnant ***** and this should have been taken care of BEFORE she was pregnant.

If she was vaccinated last year its nothing to worry about (beyond any fine you may face for not having her UTD) as the 1 year shot is the exact same shot as the 3 year. Its simply a matter of labeling.

If she wasn't althe way into her pregnancy I would say go ahead with the vaccinations. If they are under three weeks in you can vaccinate them but because she is going to have her puppies "any day now" then NO do not vaccinate until the puppies have opened their eyes or are weaned.

Also... get your dog spayed. No need to have more dogs then there already are.

In England, where rabies isn't a problem, (my) vets won't vaccinate pregnant dogs, nor will they allow you to purchase their flea/tick/worm treatment.

I don't know what it's like in America, but shouldn't your dog have been vaccinated way ebfore she was pregnant? It shouldn't need to be done again.

Why is she pregnant? Because you obviously don't know anything about taking care of pregnant dogs.

Please spay her ASAP.

And no, don't give her any vaccines until her pups are born.

call your vet and ask...I just pray to god that they know that she's pregnant unless you didn't bother to let your vet know that she was pregnant so that they could give her the proper prenatal care that she needs and to ensure that her and that puppies that she's carrying are all healthy and you know for sure a due date.
