My car was smoking and now it wont start?
Hello guys, I have a few questions about my car. It's a 2005 Chevy Cobalt LS and I've had it for only 1 month.
When I bought it, the only thing the Chevy dealer said was that they recommend struts and shocks within the next few months but they said everything under the hood was great.
When I started driving it, I was just learning how to drive a 5 speed Manuel transmission car, and it took about 5 days for me to get the hang of it. I broke hard a few times and I started hearing a clinking noise whenever I pressed down hard on my brakes, so I thought it was just because I wore out the break pads a little. While also learning how to drive stick, there were a few times when I think I was burning oil when I didn't switch gears at the correct time. So in total, the only problems I ever experienced in the last month with my car was the clinking brakes and the once in a while smell of burning oil.
Then 2 days ago, for the first time, I heard a strange clicking noise every time I accelerated my car in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. It kind of sounded like a pen being held into a fan and the fan blades smacking the pen. I drove my car around for one day, probably a total of 200 miles and then I didn't drive my car the next day.
Today I was driving my car on the freeway and I got stuck in traffic for an hour. A dead stop and go, stop and go kind of traffic, where my foot was constantly on the clutch, gas and brakes. Finally once I got out of the traffic I started trying to accelerate to get my car from going under 10 mph to freeway speed. At first I noticed that once my car reached 60mph, it stopped accelerating, even with my foot on the gas firmly and the gear was in 5th.
I dropped my gear down to 4th, tried to accelerate, then popped my car back into 5th and it slowly reached 70mph. I was only driving 70 for about 1 minute before I heard and felt a pop. Immediately I checked my rearview mirror and I noticed thick white smoke coming from my car, so I pulled over and we seen thick white smoke coming out from the hood of my car rapidly. We popped the hood and checked and there was oil leaking onto the floor and the smoke wouldn't stop flowing.
My fiance checked the oil and she said it seems like the water and oil mixed. When we asked a family member their opinion, they said it sounds like a blown head gasket and that means my engine is ruined.
I just need some more opinions. Does anyone know what may have happened? Any opinions or advice? Any ideas of how much it would cost to fix it? Would it be best to fix this or get a different car? Thanks everyone!
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoDodge Neon or Chevy Cobalt? Which car should I buy?
Hello guys! I have a question and I want to hear some opinions.
I am looking to buy a car and I've been searching high and low for a vehicle on Craigslist.
I am a reliable car, one with decent gas mileage, because I drive over 60 miles a day for work, and one that is known to be dependable and not a piece of junk.
I have found two and tomorrow, I am going down to test drive both car.
I would like some opinions on which is the better car and the better deal.
The first car is a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT. It has an automatic transmission with 174k miles. The seller is asking $2650 obo.
The second car is a 2005 Chevy Cobalt. It has a 5 speed manual transmission with 120k miles. The seller is asking $3000 obo.
Talk to me guys, tell me which car is known to be great and which deal seems to be best.
Both cars have great appearance with the body, paint, the inside is clean, they look really good!
4 AnswersBuying & Selling8 years agoWhy won't my electronics turn on or charge?
Hello.
3 weeks ago I bought a new net-book and a new tablet.
Both products were brand new, worked perfect, and everything was great.
Two nights ago, I charged both of my new electronics on their separate chargers but I used the same outlet in my kitchen. Then this morning before I went to work, I put my tablet on it's charger and my net-book on it's charger using the same outlet in the kitchen.
Once I got to work, I realized my tablet wouldn't turn on.
And now my net-book is also acting up and it is not charging.
What could have happened to my new electronics? They were both working fine yesterday, and now today, my tablet won't even turn on and my net-book will not charge at all.
2 AnswersOther - Electronics8 years agoWhat was Hitler's argument in the Munich Conference?
I'm studying WWII History in school this semester and I need some clarification.
I am under the impression that during the Munich Conference, held in September 1938, Hitler declared his interest in the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. The Munich Agreement gave Hitler control of the Sudetenland, if he promised to not invade anywhere else.
What I need clarification of is what exactly did Hitler argue to allow France, Italy and the UK to sign an agreement of this seize of control? I am under the impression that Hitler was convincing the Allies at the conference that the people in the Sudetenland weren't being treated properly, but exactly what examples, evidence or descriptions were Hitler using to get his way and seize control of the Sudetenland?

6 AnswersHistory8 years agoQuestions about Pharmaceutical Techs and Vet Techs?
Hello there.
I have a few questions about becoming a Pharmaceutical Technician and a Veterinarian Technician.
First, my girlfriend and I are looking to relocate from California to Washington State within the next year. In order to gain 'residency' status on school applications, we would have to wait a year before going to school in Washington. So, obtaining the licensing to become a Pharmaceutical Tech for me and a vet tech for my girlfriend wont be until at least 2 years...but I am curious now about the certificates.
My first question is... does anybody know if a Pharmaceutical Technician License/Certificate and a Vet Technician License/certificate is valid in other states not including the state it is obtained it? If we got our licenses in California, could we work in Washington? If we obtained the certificates in Washington...could we take our work back to California?
Secondly, We are both looking to obtain the 'technician' licenses for each of our trades for the time being... but we eventually may be interested in furthering our educations in the fields of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy at a University. Would obtaining a certificate count at all towards a Bachelor degree? We need opinions on this question. I'm unsure whether or not going for just a technician license would be beneficial if we do decide to go for a bachelors/masters degree in our own fields of study.
Next, are trade schools/vocational schools a good option? This includes online schools, any trade school/technical or vocational colleges? How about obtaining a certificate at a community college? What are your thoughts?
What about an associates degree? If I obtained my associates degree in Pharmacy at a community college and my girlfriend obtained her associates in Vet Medicine at a community college, would that benefit us?
Also, does anybody know of a website in which I can check the percentage of jobs available in those fields in different locations? Preferably, I'm wanting to see a time line of the last few years of jobs as pharmaceutical techs and vet techs. (I want to make sure these two jobs are in high demand where we plan on living).
On average, how much time does it take to get licensed as a Vet Tech and as a Pharmacy Tech?
Any additional comments and advice is welcome!
Thanks for your time.
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoWhich US City is best for me?
Hello everyone. I am posting today in order to get help finding new cities that may fit my roommate and I’s lifestyles and needs. We are deciding that we want to move out of Southern California and we are considering moving out of the state of California. Now, I want some opinions and advice on different cities in the United States that would generally allow me to live my life. We think that the West Coast would be our best option, but we are open to other cities in the United States as well. We will appreciate any advice on cities!
Our expectations/wants for the city include:
• Cold, mild, and warm weather climate, but never exceeding 100 F degrees
• Small homes, apartments, townhouses, or condos with a rent range of $500 - $800 per month
• Dog friendly parks, beaches, and communities.
• We want to live near the ocean, a river, or a lake.
• Population around 100,000 or over, we want to live in a safe, bigger metropolitan city.
• Public transportation (Buses, trains, subways)
• Nearby places to hike and paved bike trails.
• Extremely liberal environment (and accepting of all lifestyles)
• Nearby community colleges and a nearby university.
• At least a decent job market
• Many different cultures in the community is a plus!
• Art museums, cultural museums, history museums and science museums are also a plus!
• Sports team, specifically Baseball.
• Big city charm (Similar to San Francisco architecture, size, culture and population)
This is just a few expectations and details my roommate and I expect in a city. If anyone could point us in the direction of a great city that could fit our needs, please tell us!
3 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoWhich city should I live in?
So, my girlfriend and I are considering moving out of California for the first time together. We currently live in Southern California in between Los Angeles and San Diego, but more inland...90 minutes from the beaches of Orange County.
Just to tell you a little bit about ourselves, we are a same sex couple. We want to live in an environment that is very gay friendly.
We are both enrolled in college in California and we want to transfer to another community college. I am majoring in Communication Studies and my girlfriend wants to become a teacher. We also want to be located near a good University as well.
Lately we have taken up the hobby of hiking, and I have gained an interest in casual biking and the idea of camping.
My girlfriend is a city girl from San Francisco, and I'm a small town girl from the middle Southern California. We have 5 dogs right now. We love art, diversity, I enjoy anthropological studies and I would like to be in an areas with a lot of choices for museums. We love the idea of a big to medium sized city. Something affordable for us, around $400 to $600 a month for a condo, apartment, townhouse, or studio.
We are looking for a city that is good for gay couples, dog owners, near the ocean (within a half an hour from the ocean), we prefer to stay on the West Coast and we have thought about considering Portland Oregon, Seattle Washington, Bellevue Washington, or Tacoma Washington.
We are looking for somewhere that has distinct seasons, but never gets too hot. A safe city, with public transportation and a great culture!
Does anyone have any advice on what city in the US would be a good fit for me?

3 AnswersAir Travel10 years agoDoes anybody know what a stapled back canvas is?
My girlfriend has been telling me she wants a "stapled back canvas" for her paintings. I looked on Amazon for canvasses and all I see are stretched canvasses and Pre-Stretched Canvasses. I see nothing that says "stapled back". I am confused. Which canvas is my girlfriend referring to?
What is the difference between a pre stretched canvas and a stretched canvas?
What are some good brands to buy canvasses from?
2 AnswersPainting10 years agoI have some questions about theater, is anybody a theater major?
Hey there.
So I am taking Theater 101 in college and I am reading over my study guide before my test tomorrow and I got caught up on a few questions.
First of call, just so you know, the test is on 3 chapters that in depth about Scenery, Stage Costumes, lighting and sound on stage.
Okay, I know pretty much all I need to know for the Scenery and Stage Costume sections, but I need some help with the lighting and sound on stage section!
My first question is:
Fill in the blank:
When lighting follows an actor from one side of the stage to another, it is referred to as ........?
What is it referred to as? I was thinking spot light, but that's not what is mentioned in the book.
My second question is also a fill in the blank question.
Lighting designers use ...... and ...... to create special effects on stage?
What do lighting designers use? I know they obviously work the lights and set up where the lights need to go, but what else do they handle that helps create the special effects? Is it a computer? I don't know.
My next question is, True or False? Sound reinforcement was not used in the theater until the 1960's?
My guess would be true because in my textbook it mentions that musicians from the 1950's did not have sound reinforcement. So my guess would be true, how about yours?
My last question is another fill in the blank:
A ........ is used by the sound designer to control and combine all the sounds coming from the actors and the sound effects into the loudspeakers.
At first, I was thinking something along the lines of a computer, but when I reread the question, I started thinking about microphones.
Three different microphones are mentioned in the book.
Which microphone would the correct answer to the last question?
a Shotgun mic? a General mic? or a Body Mic?
Someone please help! I literally read these chapters from front to back and still can't think of the answers. I really hope this was enough information for you guys to help me with! I really appreciate it!

12 AnswersDogs10 years agoWhat career paths could a Humanities major follow?
I am just curious what career paths a Humanities major could follow.
I am taking an Intro to Theater, Anthropology, History, and a Math course in my first year of community college. Before I started community college, I wanted to go for my PhD. in Psychology, but once I have started school, I decided that 14 years of school in order to reach my career is not really an option for me financially.
I have always liked writing, and I would love to major or minor in journalism or some kind of descriptive/creative writing, but I don't believe my school offers that at the moment. But what I have realized that I really enjoy learning about is anthropology, history and the history of theater. My anthropology and history class is specifically about the history of California Indians before, during, and after the Missionaries, Mexican invasion, and Gold Rush.
Now my question for everyone Yahoo Answers, history and anthropology is considered humanities, right? When I looked up humanities, it gave me several different courses, such as art, history and anthropology, so I was hoping they were linked in a college perspective also.
What career paths could a humanities major follow?
What career paths could a history and anthropology major follow?
What about journalism or creative writing major, what career path could they follow?
I need many ideas!
