What was Hitler's argument in the Munich Conference?

I'm studying WWII History in school this semester and I need some clarification.

I am under the impression that during the Munich Conference, held in September 1938, Hitler declared his interest in the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. The Munich Agreement gave Hitler control of the Sudetenland, if he promised to not invade anywhere else.

What I need clarification of is what exactly did Hitler argue to allow France, Italy and the UK to sign an agreement of this seize of control? I am under the impression that Hitler was convincing the Allies at the conference that the people in the Sudetenland weren't being treated properly, but exactly what examples, evidence or descriptions were Hitler using to get his way and seize control of the Sudetenland?

If you know history, feel free to answer!

His argument was that, as the leader of all Germans, he only wished to unite them into one country, as he had done with the Rhinelands and Austria. He said he had no further territorial demands but for the largely German, Sudetenland, of Czechoslovakia. He promised that he had no further territorial interests.

Neville Chamberlain 'blinked'. (the British and French evidently failed to realize the the natural defences of Czechoslovakia nearly all lay within the Sudeten area so the Treaty left Czechoslovakia virtually defenseless as the subsequent German incursion showed).

British and French policy at the time was appeasement.

In May 1933 , Dr Rausching was told by Hitler (see Germany`s Revolution of Destruction , page 251 )

` Hitler had told me that morning what was his view of the value of treaties . He was ready , he said , to sign anything . He was ready to guarantee any frontier and to conclude a non- aggression pact with anyone . It was a simpleton`s idea that expedients of that sort were not to be availed of , because the day might come when some formal agreement had to be broken `. Chamberlain , the British Prime Minister had no understanding of the real Hitler ..

Over the question of the Sudetenland the Czechs were not invited to Munich , although the dismemberment of their country was the only item on the agenda . Their treatment by the French and British during the following three weeks was deplorable . They received from their Allies and Friends ( British / French ) one ultimatum after another . The so called Anglo/ French Plan , required te immediate cession to Germany without a plebiscite , of all districts with more than fifty per cent , German population - regardless of the fact that large numbers of Sudeten Germans were opposed to cession ..

The Czechs offered an alternative to this plan and proposed that the dispute should be dealt with under the German - Czechoslovak Arbitration Treaty of 1926 , which only six months before the Germans had assured them was still in force .

The British/ French told the Czechs that this rely should be replaced by "an alternative that takes account of realities " . The British Government even went as far as refusing to transmit to the Germans the Czech proposal for arbitration . The French told the Czechs that if they not immediately and unconditionally accept the Plan , they would be solely responsible for any war which might result and that, in that case , neither Britain nor France would assist them . The Czechs had no other choice but to accept the cession of the Sudetenland .

Hitler had no need to argue , the British /French were prepared to sell the Czechs down the river in order to avert war , I am British and regard this episode in our history as one of our most shameful periods . If we had, had Churchill as Prime Minister instead of Chamberlain ( who was a committed pacifist ) I truly believe Hitler would not have been allowed to get away with it .

The results of appeasement develop into genuinely not what the different countries were hoping it would want to be. the theory in the back of the appeasement coverage, searching back, seems virtually unbelievably naive. It develop into felt that, if Hitler develop into allowed to annex countries (including Austria), or factors of countries (including the Sudetenland in what develop into previously Czechoslovakia and is now, i have self belief, the Czech Republic), he'd be pleased with that and all might want to be nice. It worked about besides because it does if a baby fingers over his lunch money to a schoolyard bully contained in the desire that the bully will then purely go away him on my own. it is impressive to me to imagine that the representatives of different countries (and the human beings in value of those countries) might want to imagine that way. obviously, i'm searching at it with the 20/20 imaginative and prescient of hindsight, yet heavily, couldn't those diplomats and ambassadors see the parallels between appeasing Hitler and giving in to the different type of bully? i visit in trouble-free terms imagine that they were nonetheless so demoralized by technique of the horrors of the first international conflict that they somewhat were hoping for peace at any fee. the right outcome of this coverage develop into the even more beneficial horrors of world conflict 2.
