Jehovah Witness - Are 'Get Well' cards acceptible?

I have an employee who is a Jehovah Witness. I'm aware that he doesn't celebrate birthdays and holidays.

Recently, he was admitted to the hospital and will likely require surgery.

My question is this: Would it be acceptible to give him a Get Well card (signed by the rest of my staff) when I go to visit him?

Although it's a small gesture, I feel it's the right thing to do. But I want to make sure I'm being respectful and that I don't unintentionally offend him if his faith finds Get Well cards inappropriate.

Thank you for any insight provided!

It is ABSOLUTELY acceptable... it shows a genuine concern and care for this person, and they would be touched and honored that they are thought of at all.

You are being incredibly respectful by even wanting to have accurate knowledge. You are to be applauded, because you are open-minded enough to want that knowledge.

Just remember: "Off-color" humor cards and religious cards with crosses may not be the best choices. But a card that has a sincere, clever, funny and, yes, even a generic Christian message would be acceptable. I've found that for my friends a majority of the Maya Angelou cards are encouraging and uplifting.

Hey... perhaps you could even have one of the more creative people in your company create a personalized card from everyone!!! That'd be totally cool and acceptable! :-)

My best to you for your excellent attitude!

On the contrary, what a wonderful gesture! It will cheer our brother up no end:D

You are showing exemplary kindness and not letting prejudice get in the way.

We often send get well cards to our brothers and sisters.

i think of they chosen the watchtower for an emblem because of the fact the be conscious discreet ability watchful on all components no longer because of the fact of a few pagan theory . this is a recognize fact that christians did no longer use the bypass in worship until eventually emperor constantine blended christian and pagan theory as a fashion to attempt to unite his kingdom . in the event that they have been to apply that total statue of the goddess then i might say you had a factor yet precise now sounds incredibly stupid .

  • Get Well cards are fine and so are Sympathy cards, and Graduation cards for graduates, Wedding cards and Anniversary cards. Just like the holidays and birthdays, cards for such occasions are not acceptable.

Nothing wrong with that whatsoever as it does not violate any of our God's Laws, Commands, or Principals as recorded in His Word the Bible whatsoever.

It's a very kind and sincere gesture on your part and I am sure that my Christian brother will appreciate it.

BTW, please inform him that his spiritual sister Mindy is praying for him and that I hope he gets better.

    Thanks. :-)

Yes, a get well card would be fine.

I would bone up on the information on blood transfusions just in case you may need to make a case.

Blood, Watchtower Flip-Flops on Blood Fractions 4 Times

In 1945 the Watchtower Society banned its members from accepting any form of blood, whether it be whole or fractional. Since then the Watchtower have managed to tie themselves up in the technicalities and changing its mind on what is acceptable to what is not acceptable only for it to be acceptable in a few years time.

Here is the Watchtower’s history on the issue of blood

    # 1940 Blood transfusions are acceptable

    # 1945 Blood transfusion are not acceptable

    # 1956 Blood serums should be treated as blood and are banned

    # 1958 Blood serums and fractions acceptable

    # 1959 Storage of own blood unacceptable

    # 1961 Blood fractions are not acceptable

    # 1964 Blood fractions are acceptable

    # 1974 Blood serums are personal choice

    # 1975 Hemophilia treatments (Factor VII & IX) are not acceptable

    # 1978 Hemophilia treatments (Factor VII & IX) are acceptable

    # 1982 Albumin is acceptable

    # 1983 Hemodilution is acceptable

    # 1990 Hemodilution is not acceptable (Blood Brochure)

    # 1995 Hemodilution is acceptable

this information has been very helpful to encourage witnesses to make sound medical decisions instead of following the group who can't decide what they believe in as far as transfusions go.
