How do i know when dividends are paid out? What is Div Ex date?
i'm invested in a stock which had a Div Ex date of tomorrow. what does this mean - i know it means i have to be in that stock at that point to qualify for dividends, but can i pull out the day after tomoorow and still get paid?
and when will the payment actually go through, is it usually soon after the Div Ex date?

Remember that Ex means without. If you buy before the XD date you get the dividend, on and after you don't. If you sell on or after XD date you get the dividend, before you don't. The dividend is paid about 3 weeks after XD.
You also have a BC (books closed) date. This determines who actually receives the dividend but that may not necessarilly be the rightful owner. In a few cases this will be the subject of a market claim.
So in your example you can sell tomorrow and still keep the dividend. In some cases you can sell 'special c-um dividend' (when XD but not yet paid) and get the net dividend in the selling price.
There is a set timetable for dividends but it may vary on diofferent exchanges.
