I'm 28 weeks pregnant and today my doctor called and told me that I'm Anemic?
My doctor called me and told me that I'm Anemic and gave me a prescription for iron pills or something. My mom told me that she was Anemic when she was pregnant with my sister, but I'm still a little worried. Is it bad to be Anemic while pregnant or is it not that big of a deal?
I do take my prenatals btw.

Its not a big deal if you take the tablets prescribed and if you keep it monitored. It is really common. I am 9 and a half weeks and im anemic before i was pregnant so i just take a little extra. Nothing to worry about though just the baby uses a lot of iron so you need more. Warning though the tablets may make you feel a bit sick. Everyone ive talked to (family and friends) have said the same thing. best to take them at night time before bed. some take with a glass of milk. and they may cause constipation so just remember lots of fiber and plenty of water but definitely not to stress over. Congrats

Depends what your levels are like, Im severely anemic and my dr has me taking tables 3 times a day because if idon'tt get my levels back up somewhat and after i have the baby and bleed he said there s a huge chance i will need a blood transfusion. So it can get quite serious, so take you tablets and get your levels checked again in 6 weeks.

just a question are you taking your pre natal vitamins...if you are then i guess your iron store is being used by baby leaving you with a defficiency so technically baby will be okay but you need to replenish your iron levels as its your source of energy and you need to continually produce more iron for the baby which is why doc has prescribed you withthe pills, dont worry its for the best and fairly common x
good luck to you both
