Cat keeps coughing, raspy.?
Hi there, my 8 month old male cat keeps getting a terrible rasping cough. He seems quite taken by surprise by it and it happens randomly an can last for a few minutes. At first I thought it was hairballs, but now I'm not too sure. He sticks his neck out and sways his head back and forward all the while making a choking, raspy coughing sound. He is not being sick with it. I'm thinking I'll get him to the vet later but would appreciate anyone giving me advice on what is going on and if this is actually normal?! Thank you.

It COULD be a hairball that is too big or dense and he cannot cough it up without help. Pick a bunch of medium-long blades of grass from a clean area nearby and put it down next to the cat or on a plate. They will probably start to naw at it but not eat it at first. LEAVE it there and it will probably start to eat it before or while it is coughing.
THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY THING, if this does not stop within 3-4 days or worsens your cat may need medication so take it to the vett!

It does sound like hairballs but you should go to the vet since has been doing it for a while
