My garbage disposal stopped working. What can I do to try to fix it?
I've tried resetting it by pressing the reset button on the bottom of the unit. I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. I've tried taking a screw driver and manually turning it while it was unplugged. I'm afraid I'll need to replace it. Any ideas before I drop money on a new one????

Are you able to turn the disposal? The way to do it is from the bottom. There should be a hex for a large allen wrench to fit into ~ at the very bottom of the disposal. Try rotating it from there. If it doesn't move, then you probably have something stuck in the disposal. Unplug it, and feel around inside. Don't worry, the disposal itself isn't sharp. Remove whatever is lodged. You can also rotate the disposal back and forth with the allen wrench in attempt to break it loose.

There is a reset button usually located underneath the disposal itself. Try resetting it by pushing in on this button a couple of times.

Sounds like you might need to buy a new one. You can find compactors and disposals at http://www.drimmers.com/ and hopefully you won't be spending too much money as we offer many discount kitchen appliances.
