Is a 15-year-old DUI warrant from Phoenix(AZ) STILL valid?

Another down-the-street neighbor was just arrested yesterday morning by the local sheriff's office(near Pomona, CA) for DUI...the problem?:it happened 15 YEARS AGO!...IN PHOENIX!

As of right now he's being hauled off to the infamous "Tent City" to face the charges...

He appeared in the Maricopa County courts in '96 to answer to the charges, but the arresting officer never showed up, so the judge let him go...NOW he faces a "no-bail" felony bench warrant for "failure to appear" for the same charge???...stupid!...now he's legally blind, suffering from Alzheimer's, hasn't driver in 10 years, and the MCSO will have NO sympathy for his deteriorating condition...will he have to serve the full sentence for the framed-up "FTA" for the DUI?

Like I said, this is STUPID!...HE showed up in court, the cop didn't, he was let go, NOW THIS???...

Is it "Arpaio's Revenge"???

Yes, it is valid. Warrants never expire.

You are not getting the whole story from your neighbor. The judge did not dismiss the charges, he only released your neighbor until it could be rescheduled. Your neighbor apparently didn't show up for the new court date.

If he wasn't given a court date, he can challenge the warrant. However, that will only give him a day in court, it will not make the original charge go away.

Once a warrant is issued, it stays active until the person is caught and brought before the court issuing the warrant, even from 15 years ago.

They don't just dismiss a DUI for a cop not showing up. Maybe for that day, but the court would have been rescheduled. Your friend should have known that.

All FIVE answers are WRONG!...even the one from the "cop from Phoenix"!...like Monty said:the neighbor showed up at court, the arresting officer didn't, the judge released him...and you IDIOTS don't care!

In MY opinion, that "warrant" should've been DROPPED...

Yes, that was the WHOLE story...the whole truth, and NOTHING but!

All you "Arpaio-lovers" should be ashamed of yourselves!...

I'm right, and YOU are wrong!

    OK, who TD'ed ME???...
