What would happen if two players on the same team had the same last name and first initial?

What would be on their jerseys? Has this happened before?

Tex beat me to the Sutters in Philly. They also played a couple years together in St Louis, 91/92 and 92/93

I believe Duane missed playing on the same 'Hawks team as brother Darryl by one year, brother Brent also missed playing with brother Darryl by one year and missed playing with brother Brian by three, but did play with brother Rich in the 94/95 and 95/96 seasons.

Hey, I'm not making this shyte up. 5 of the 6 Sutter brothers played for the Blackhawks, but at no time did two B's play together, nor the two 2 D's. The two R's played together twice.

To make a long sory short. That's why they have numbers as well as well as names.

    I need a drink.

Good, got that out of the way. Other brothers from the same mother with the same first initial:

1923 to 1924 Habs had both Bill and Bob Boucher.

Both Jeff and Jack Borwnschilde played for Hartford Whalers, although I'm not sure which years overlapped.

Bill and Bob Carse Played together for the Hawks in the mid '30's.

Don Cherry's only game in the NHL preceded his brother's only season by a couple years. Both played for the Bruins. (another D*** that I can't sneek past the modirators)

Bill and Bun (don't blame me) Cook played together for the Rangers from '26 to '36.

'55 to '59 Leafs had brothers Barry and Brian Cullen.

Hossa brother Marcel and Marion played together on the Slovak Olympic team.

Mark and Marty Howe played together in Hartford from '79 to '82.

Dave and Don Maloney played together for the Rangers from "78 to '85.

Hillary Menard played his only NHL game with brother Howie for the 'Hawks in '53.

Kevin and Kelly Miller played part of the "02/3 season together in Washington.

Plager brothers Barclay, and Bill played together for the Blues from '67 to '77and a third brother Bob joined in '68 to '72.

Rich and Robyn Regehr played together in Calgary. (Only bothers to play in the NHL born in the southern hemisphere)

Darryl and Darrin Shanon played two seasons together for the original Jets.

Patrick and Peter Sundstrom played together in New Jersey in 89/90.

Watson brothers, Joe and Jim, played for the Flyers from '73 to '78.

Would have been a lot less work if I skipped the drink and sent the link. Now I need another one.

Usually when two guys have the same last name and same first initial, they do the first 2 initials or something along that line

Last year there were Twins on the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team.

Their names were Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris. Now they have the same last name and first 3 letters in their first name are the same.

One's jersey read MC. Morris and the other MK. Morris

    * They are both rookies in the NBA now*

This happened a few days ago for the Carolina Hurricanes. They had Brett Sutter and Brandon Sutter on their team in a game versus the Jets. Both jerseys just said "Sutter". The only difference was their number.

Here are two pictures from the game where you can see their jerseys

Whole first name would be on the jerseys. I bet it's happened but I don't know for sure.

I'm guessing they would use their middle name or the 2 first letters of their name.

I don't know about other sports but in CRICKET, we use the initial for the first name and the full last name- e.g. - H. Smith

What would be even more confusing would be if they had the same number. Then it would be really confusing. It would be like the old days when they didn't have names on the sweaters. Then we had to know their numbers to tell them apart.
