When should I tell my new employer that I'm pregnant?

I interviewed for a job I really wanted back in January & soon after I got a letter stating that I "passed" the interview, but they chose another candidate & they would keep my info on file for another position. I started another job I HATE in April and got pregnant in June (found out in July). Last week (14 weeks pregnant) I got a call that the person they'd hired has been promoted and the position is mine if I want it. I accepted on the spot, and scheduled my start date for 10/17/11 (time for 2 weeks notice and a trip to the in-laws that's been planned for a while). I did not mention the pregnancy at the time, and now I'm worried about when I should break the news. They are known as a great place to work in the area and I don't want to lie. Should I tell HR when I go in on the 17th out wait a few weeks to "prove myself"?

You don't have to tell them till later if you choose, a employer is not allowed to discriminate against someone and not hire them because of being pregnant, but they do. I applied to a place that I was VERY qualified for and they knew I was pregnant and they never called, I am positive that is the reason, but to get back to your question you don't have to tell them yet :)

while you're interior the united kingdom your GP / midwife provides you with a Maternity certificates confirming your due date (can't remember precisely when I have been given mine conceivable around 24 weeks). that's what you may provide on your organization, who could then write to you to substantiate your employment place - i.e. any occupational maternity pay, any entitlement to unpaid go away, technique for asking for differences on your return to paintings (i.e. in case you desire to decrease hours). otherwise as a supervisor i've got consistently liked honesty from my group as to what plans they have - i.e. tough thought of whilst maternity go away will start up, their suggestions approximately returning - yet none of it is set in stone, and there could be an HR coverage to conceal any differences to plans that could ensue throughout the being pregnant and previous.

Legally you don't have to tell your employer until you are 7 months. I was in a similar situation and I waited as long as I could hide it. Once I told my boss, it was no big deal...they excepted it and even threw me a baby shower. I would wait, but you do what's best for you.

You can tell them whenever you are comfortable. There is no need to prove yourself as it is illegal for them to fire you or hold prejudice against you for being pregnant.

You should tell them now. Don't wait. You're only going to prove your not up front if you wait until the 17th to tell them.

it's personal choice. you are under NO obligation to inform your employer --ever. talk to your partner & OB. have your FMLA paperwork ready when you talk to HR.
