Why are the skirts on Sailor Moon cosplay uniforms so long?
All the cosplay Sailor Scout uniforms I've seen have a long skirt, sometimes nearly down to the knee, but on the anime, the uniforms clearly have miniskirts. Why is this?

The characters aren't in full proportion/scale as most real women are.
You've got to know - the Sailor Senshi range from being about 4"11-5"4. They would be considered as being awfully small women in real life, especially here in the States (whereas that would probably be about the average height of females over in Japan).
And yet, they are fully out of proportion compared to real females. Their faces would be a lot smaller, and they have very long legs, which is almost an inhuman appearance if put to scale.
The reason the skirts might appear so long because while it reaches to the knee, it would still be high on the Sailor Senshi as seen in the anime.
If you've watched the live-action series, you can clearly see that they're not wearing mini-skirts either - they're set at a reasonable height.
It would look rather unappealing, in my opinion, if the skirts on the cosplay uniforms were shorter. You've also got to keep in mind - the Senshi are so much more thinner and have longer legs that real-life women.
It all comes down to proportion and the reality of image.

because cosplay is for people who think dressing like a a little girl cartoon is "neat" they also tend to be of the larger more in charge type of size so no i dont think the skirts should be as short as the slutty drawn sailors of the universe......... also a dude might want to wear one and no one would want to see the junk slip out, would you?
