SC-Can you recommend a Coffee Brand?

that is not so bitter?

I've been using Folgers and Maxwell House Coffee and they are starting to taste bitter to me and I have to add more sugar and cream to it...

Or is it just me? I use the same measurement as always.

Is anybody else having these problems with the brands I've mention too?

We drink Hills Bros. Coffee. The only place I have found it is the Rural King store. I'm sure other stores must carry it, but I've not found it at Kroger or Walmart, though Super WalMart did carry it at one time. It is more mild to me than Folgers or Maxwell House, but everyone's taste is different, so....

If you have a Rural King Store, you can get the large can of Hills Bros, for around 5.99 on sale. I think it is 6.99 otherwise, still much less expensive than some of the other name brand coffees like you mentioned. Tap water can also make a difference in how the coffee tastes.

A couple of years ago I started using Folgers "Simply Smooth Decaf" which does not seem to have the bitter taste that the regular might have. I only drink Decaf and I liked the way this tasted after trying it at a friend's home. On occasion when I've bought the regular Folgers Decaf by accident, I can tell the difference and like the Simply Smooth so much better.

Here's the thing. Everyone has different taste. I, personally, enjoy instant coffee and I always use the store brand from where I currently work (Meijer). It tastes better to me than the name brands.

I don't like brewed coffee but if I drink it at my son's house they use Folgers and it's okay. I don't like Maxwell House instant because it's bitter. It could be you need to really clean your coffee pot. I used to do this at the store where I worked before by running white vinegar though it a few times then at least five times with just water. We used the coffee pot a lot so I did it every six months. You can get coffee pot cleaning solutions, too. Or try using a bit less coffee.

I don't know if you have it in your area, but Millstone "Breakfast Blend" is the only coffee I'll drink anymore. I used to drink Folgers too...but it's gotten way too acidic. Also, Dunkin' Donuts brand is very mild tasting too.

Also, I always use a flavored cream, usually Vanilla...it cuts the acidity and allows me to cut down on or even forego the sugar.

I like Folger's Columbian. I did buy some of theirs and used the same measurement, and it was strong, so I used less coffee the next time around. I like decaffeinated, but my daughters like caffeine, so I buy it. I guess if you do not have the caffeine, what is the use of having it. I do not care much for coffee.

I drink my coffee unsweetened and black. Folgers Classic blend has always tasted good for me. I do not like Maxwell house.

I don't know if you have Eight O'Clock available to you, but I have used it both while visiting the States and here at home in Canada. I have also learned that it was considered an excellent value for the money.

We usually mix a little of the flavoured coffee in to mellow it out. Vanilla Hazelnut, or Irish Cream work wonders for taking off the edge. Just a little bit of that to the mix....

I also try to stick to Columbian coffee, but right now I get what's on sale and what I can afford. I have bought generic and put it in my Folgers can so hubby doesn't complain. Community Coffee is relatively new and quite tasty if you can afford it.

Try a teaspoon of sugar in the grounds per 5 cups of coffee. The bitterness is caused by acid.Sugar naturalizes acid.
