Do evaporation lines fade on a pregnancy test? Evap vs Pos. Help! TTC #1?
I took an EPT (I know, blue dye tests are evil) and it came up with a faint positive. I'm a couple days before my expected period. I've been having a LOT of symptoms. I was panicking that maybe it was just an evaporation line and somehow just got blue dye leaked in or something because I was late checking it. However, I've read that blue dye in evap lines fades after a few hours, and this has lasted 48 hrs (the minimum that a positive lasts). I know I'm going to get the "The only way to know for sure is it take another test" responses, but I'd like advice before my expected period, and my husband has asked me not to take another test, for fear a negative would work me up unnecessarily. So, any answers would be appreciated. The main question is, aren't evap lines supposed to fade and be colorless? NOT be the color and last 2 days? Thanks!
Also, here's a link to a picture of the test I took. It still looks the same: http://www.flickr.com/photos/64769915@N08/62366278...

The key to correctly reading blue dye pregnancy tests is to only look at it within the valid time frame. For most tests, this is 5 or 10 minutes after dipping the test in urine. If you saw a positive in that time, then YES! its a real positive. If it only showed up sometime after that time, then it might be an evap line. In that case, I strongly suggest taking another test (tomorrow morning with your first morning urine) to get an accurate reading.
Best of luck!
