Is JR trying to become America's Don Cherry?

Update:

Hi

Leafsfan, I was at my favorite clothing shop a few months ago when the owner offered me some button up shirts at a huge discount because someone ordered them and never returned. They had been custom made and monogrammed on the cuff. I guess it is a way of showing people that you paid 150-200 dollars for a tailored shirt.

Thank You

Why is everyone who has an opinion about hockey called trying to be Don Cherry? Listen, most league wide (can't really say national as it is an international sport) hockey commentators suck: they're bland, don't take a strong stance on the issues, and really add little to the game. I personally disagree with Cherry on a ton of things, but I like the fact that he takes a stance on issues and discusses the game passionately. This is hockey, not an economics course, this should be discussed passionately and with an actual stance.

In closing, so we have two commentators with personality in hockey now, instead of 8itching, "hey we got two guys with personality," we should be asking for more.

  • Mike Milbury has that covered with his work on CBC (and apparently NBC).

I noticed that not only does he have Grapes' ability to go off his meds, he's also copying Cherry by having his initials sewn into the cuff of his dress shirts (presumably in case he forgets). All he needs now is a trip to Grapes tailor for some sartorial elegance and you've pretty much got yourself a younger, dumber, less funny Don Cherry.

You know, JR has always had quite the personality. I personally like him more than Cherry. But I don't think he's trying to become America's version of Don Cherry. He's his own thing.

He's an idiot like Cherry if that's what you mean. I don't think he is trying to say outrageous, ridiculous things just to be a bombastic personality like Cherry, but idiot say idiotic things so he does it a lot on VS. He's always been a world-class hypocrite though.Great player, horrible commentator.

I don't believe so, I think that has always just been his personality. His very 'loud' opinion is the type of thing the media loves to have, but not something I am a fan of.

    Don't ask why I'm awake
