With my first, I started losing my mucus plug seven weeks before I went into labor, but it all regenerates back again by the time labor approaches.
You only lose your 'real' bloody show during labor. *FACT*

I never noticed any mucous plug, as far as I can recall and I suspect that's another name for something I knew about. When you see a spotting of pink---a tiny amount of blood (in the mucous?), then it's time to call the doctor. But if he thinks it will be several hours before you will yet give birth, he might say to wait and tell him when it's 2 1/2 min. apart. When it was that close, I left for the hospital. The pain was nearly unbearable already with the first one. The others were much easier.

I was already in Labor when I lost mine. My labor was 8 hr.s the first time and 3.5 the second time. Hoping this one is even faster ;-)
Best of luck!
Btw your mucous plug can plug back up, so if you are 36 weeks it is likely that you are not going to go into labor just yet

Within an hour. But I know that is not the way it normally goes. I lost my mucus plug. About 20 minutes later by water broke. About 30 minutes after that I went into labor.

Losing the mucous plug is a sign of pre-labor period, it may take several hours and up to 48 hours to go into active labor.
Good luck!

Hello :)
I lost my mucus plug / had a 'show' at 6am on the day my daughter was born - though she wasn't born until 11.04pm.
My partners sis gave birth 6weeks ago and she lost her plug 4 days before her daughter was born.
Everyone is so different though, good luck for your labour and being a mummy :)
