Do alarmists care if Al Gore's Climate 101 experiment was a complete fabrication?

I'm thinking they don't. I guess just getting the message out that CO2 is bad is justification enough to fudge data when you don't get the results you want.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npi7fyXEaa8&feature...

Update:

@Tom A... Thanks for proving my point :-)

Update 2:

@jules b...Sorry for the length. The gist of it is that Anthony Watts tried to replicate Al Gore's Climate 101 experiment and the temperature increase in the two jars (one filled with air, the other with C02)stayed pretty much the same.

Update 3:

@thor...so basically you're saying it doesn't matter if Al Gore lies, as long as he is bringing attention of AGW to the masses that's a good thing? Fair enough. I think you're more apt to buy a perpetual motion machine than I am though. Being skeptical is actually a good thing when it comes to science. Believing models over reality is not.

Update 4:

@Chem Flunky...True. This is more about how alarmists try to get their belief across that CO2 is leading to catastrophic climate change. Although Al Gore is not a scientist there is no doubt he has had a profound effect on the AGW debate.

Update 5:

@Pegminer...You don't get sarcasm at all do you? Do yo have any Jewish friends? BTW...I was only 2 votes short of getting the Best Answer on that one. That would have been an awesome display of science by consensus if I had won.

The warmer side got pretty apoplectic about Anthony Watts little analysis. For example: http://mediamatters.org/blog/201109300006 (Comments are hilarious) In the end, as is usual like with Climategate of Himalayagate or now Al Gore Videogate, the conclusion is invariably the same: It doesn't matter, the science is still solid.

Well, here's more for the warmer crowd to shoot down. Anthony Watts took the challenge of replicating the Gore experiment here: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/10/18/replicating-...

And you can expect the same warmer response: It doesn't matter, the science is still solid. With some people, "it doesn't matter" is pretty much universal. For example, "We may be entering a century long cooling trend even with increasing CO2 levels which have been conclusively shown don't affect temperatures significantly due to low climate sensitivity. However, it doesn't matter, the science is still solid."

As I have often said, global warming is not the Church of Al Gore. He's not even a climate scientist.

I don't have 50 minutes to watch the video. But I assume the video is showing an experiment related to CO2 being a greenhouse gas. Something that virtually no scientist doubts at this point. There is some debate about how strong of an effect CO2 will have in real-world conditions--there are a number of positive and negative feedbacks that can affect warming from CO2, or any other forcing. But no climate scientist that I am aware of disputes the fact that increased atmospheric CO2 will result in higher average global temperatures.

Try looking here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0kIaCKPlH4 for an experiment you can do at home.

Unfortunately a 50 minute video is an ask.

Gore's 101 experiment is simple and illustrative, it certainly does not represent the science of greenhouse gases.

Greenhouse gas effect is in operation on Venus and the Earth, [whether you believe co2 based climate change is happening]. Not to believe in this basic is like believing in creationism.

I should image the guy in the lab coat is not a scientist either!

Frankly, I don't care a whole lot about Al Gore's stuff--AGW is based on real science, and what Al Gore or Anthony Watts have to say about is irrelevant to the physical truth.

However, as I understand it, Gore's video sketched out how to do such an experiment, and Watts did not understand that it was a sketch of how to do the experiment, and not the actual experiment itself. That Watts couldn't do it correctly does not surprise me, since his scientific knowledge and conclusions are frequently in error.

By the way, in another of your questions you defended your incorrect knowledge of radiative transfer physics by implying that you were intentionally lying about it ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Auybw... ) , so it seems incredibly hypocritical for you to criticize Gore, since we have the choice of believing that either (1) you don't understand the science, or (2) you lie about it.

wasn't that the video that algore and nye-noscienceguy showed to the millions and millions and millions or maybe 2 viewers that said AGW is true because of this great experiment, how many more gullible people bought into this nonsense because of these 2 morons. warmunists never cease to amaze me

Warmist are almost invariably Leftist that have absolute disdain for the truth, they love the lie and they sure don't care that Gore faked it.

There is really no hope of ever changing their minds --- they are very pleased in their blindness and they refuse to see.

    ----------------------

jules b - Yeah sure, how the experiment goes is totally dependent on whether you have a climate science degree or not. That's the way the laws of physics work, one way with a degree and a totally different way without a degree.

Copy-cat lies about one politician, such as this question, have nothing to do with science.
