If climate change is a scam by governments to tax why is this a better strategy than current forms of tax?
Tax is part of life and the only way to fund public amenities, the issue of how much tax is for voters so if climate change is a scam who does it benefit?
If governments simply switch tax from earnings/sales to co2 will it change the % of tax take?
Are scientists going to gain extra funding?
Are green energy companies so powerful as to get unfair subsidies.
I have heard many people say climate change is a con and 'all about making money'. I am doing some blog research so please be as lengthy and as detailed as you wish, but please this is not about whether the facts are true or not, so no defending stances.
Thanks for your time
13 AnswersGlobal Warming10 years agoSevern Barrage, CO2 creator or savior?
The Severn Barrage is a major project proposed as a tidal barrage across the estuary. It would produce Gigawatts of renewable electricity but there are concerns [see link] . I am less concerned about the environmental/nature aspect because there is little wild life and if anything the calmer waters will assisrt bird life. My only concern is the amount of concrete and the co2 from that. What is your view?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severn_Barrage [the 8gw option]
2 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agowhat is the best mix of energy generation to reduce CO2?
Every generation source has its pros and cons but what is the best mix and economic returns on either renewables like wave, wind, solar or carbon capture of coal and gas
7 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoGiven there is so much proof how are there not more sceptics/deniers?
Given that the proof of either no GW or AGW howcome there are so few sceptics and deniers in goverments or science. I checked out the petition of 30,000 US scientists but they seem to be graduates and the 10000 phd were in things like vetenary, creation biology, dead!
13 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoHow many different ways can I ask about GW and the sun as the real cause?
If I constantly ask the same question as whether others agree with me about the Sun being responsible for GW, is it possible I could actually change the evidence? [and why doesn't YA clamp down on repeat questions by the same members]
5 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWhat information does a 'Sceptic' or 'believer' need to change their mind?
If the global Temperature continues to rise over the next 5 years or ten and certainly 20 years then I presume there would be no sceptics [except really hardened one] and like wise if cooling was consistent for 5 or more years then 'believers' would have to check the facts.
But prediction of climate change were being made a decade or more ago, so why isn't this enough?
So what facts will change your position?
And please no 'climate change is a hoax blah blah' just the facts mam.
[b.t.w can anybody direct me to predictions made a decade ago by both sceptics and believers that include 2008]
9 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWhere can I find a comparison chart of energy efficiency of different modes of transport?
The wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_efficiency_in_tr... unfortunately gives different measurements for different modes of transport. Is there any website offering a clear picture. And is there any article that includes the complete cost, i.e. manufacture, use, disposal and mpg/J, Kw per Km.
3 AnswersGreen Living1 decade agocan you suggest a material to put on a pitched roof to hold soil for planting?
I am looking for suggestions to green a pitched roof 25o], preferable cheap or recycled that can contain 2-4 inches of growing medium. Something cellular would be ideal so the soil doesn't wash out.
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoIs belief in Climate Change and low taxes, opposition to big government etc incompatable?
It seems that many of those opposed to left politics, high taxation, personal freedom vs social responsibility and government interference are also convinced Climate Change is a hoax or conspiracy.
Is it not also possible to accept Climate change and have a healthy scepticism of politics?
9 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoIs being blocked by a user because you disagree with them a sign of defeat?
It seems to be a rather pointless tactic, but if the answers are courteous and to the point is the only reason the fear of constantly losing the argument?
12 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoGlobal Warming is just a theory.....?
but do you think people actually understand what a scientific theory actually is?
31 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoHow much is your car costing you?
Since I took my car off the road because it broke down and I can't afford to get a new one I have quite a lot more money in my pocket. [enough to get a new car!]
So what proportion of your income per year goes on your car(s)
Add the cost of the car, minus its resale and guess how long you will keep it. +
insurance, tax, mot, repairs [last years perhaps]+
cost of fuel per week x 52
and then work out % of income
is it a lot, is it less than you thought?
how many hours a year do spend in your car?
how many hours at work a year?
does it make an interesting equation
1 AnswerOther - Environment1 decade agohow are governments making money out of Global Warming?
It seems to be a sub argument of GW skeptics to believe that GW is some kind of conspiracy but for what aim and why.
A few examples would be welcome
