What is the United States know for besides ruining hockey?

Besides, this is not a politics forum, it is a hockey forum. But I will respond to each one of your villifications.

1) Canadian children now have similar obesity rates to American children, where just over half have some sort of cholesterol or weight problem. There is not much a difference between the two countries there.

2) I'm not overly convinced that if Canada was in the same global position as the US, we would be nearly as peaceful.

3) The only reason Canada doesn't have as bad a rep as the US worldwide is becuase NO ONE KNOWS anything about Canada worldwide. I don't like anyone that judges another person based on their nationality anyways.

4) Canadians have been involved with all three sports for a very long time. Baseball has been played in Canada since the late 19th century, a Canadian invented basketball, and the CFL has been around alot longer than the NFL.

5) Canadians have fast food too you know....

6) They don't have extreme capitalism down there... they have the same mode of production we do. It also varies substantially between States/provinces... why do you have this delusion that the US has such a dog eat dog, reckless society based on runaway capitalism? Should I remind you that most modern leftist movements (ie: OWS) are American (granted the movement was started by a Canadian magazine... but it's gained alot of support down there).

7) Trust me when I tell you, most Americans hate Bush.

What is your vendetta against Americans dude? I've travelled throughout the states (the western ones anyways), and to be honest I don't really see much of a difference between the people of Canada or the US.

Being Canada's largest trading partner - Just over 86% of Canada's trade goes to the US, the most amount any country in the world has with another country.

Sharing with Canada the largest unprotected boarder (in terms of military force) in the world.

A leader in NATO (which Canada is a part of), the largest military alliance in the Western world.

The leading country in terms of sending out financial aid.

Getting the world economy back on track following WWII.

The key country responsible for setting up the United Nations, which like it or not, is better than the previous system.

Endless hours spent on research for cures to millions of diseases.

Playing a large role in the collapse of the Soviet Union, a country that killed and suppressed its own people by the millions.

Preventing more harmful things than you or I will ever know about.
